But I must confess my profound ignorance on this subject. I do not understand what this term means and what are the consequences

Globalization's core goal is the creation of a centralized totalitarian one world government. The globe is Earth… Globalists want the Earth under a common political authority that they get to control obviously. It wouldn’t be much fun for them if someone else got to control it… That’s just the nature of authoritarianism, everyone suffers except the dictator and their cronies. To do that, they must eliminate national borders and personal sovereignty and destroy cultural adhesion by flooding countries with refugees from wars they foster. In Europe, this is done with Muslims. In the Americas they attack the culture of the USA and Canada with a flood of Latin Americans. They also must dissemble local economies by outsourcing production of supply chains so that no locality has enough power to do anything themselves and destroy small businesses so that total control lies with the oligarchs. These global economic interconnection make it possible for centralized authorities to profit, while also making the average person dependent on central authorities. This is why globalist fund groups like ANTIFA/BLM to go burn down and loot main street businesses. These are old world tricks to control the masses so that monarchs can rule and live lavishly, while most of the world is forced into slavery. Globalism is top down rule by the few of the many...
In contrast nationalists want decentralization of authority with the power resting in the hands of individuals who possess liberty. Those individuals form nation states based on culture beliefs and ethnic connections to defend one another and work toward common interests. Nationalism is bottom up rule on behalf of society’s national aspirations in the drive for independence. One sate is free to run their lives the way they please, where as a different state can have a separate set of beliefs and run their territory in a different manner.
Globalization is just an international community. It's kind of the next inevitable step on civilization.
The problem people have with it tends to be that those who like to exploit what we call third world countries will be discovered as visiting becomes more accessible by common people (a side benefit of globalization), the inequity becomes visible, and the cause for it traced back to the exploiters. But those who exploit others pretty much have all the money at the moment so they pay a lot of the media to treat words like globalization and new world order like scary derogatory terms. All it really is is the same sort of thing as having a mutual understanding with a slight hint of trust between you and your neighbor, but extending that to their neighbor, and to theirs, and so on until you reach the limits of your town, and then the next town, and so on until you reach the limits of your state, and the next state until you reach the limits of your country, and then the next country and so on until you reach the limits of your continent. Each extension of your mutual understanding waters down the trust a bit, as it should, but the point is it never becomes distrust. Every step of the way we check only that sew people are on board with not treating us as things and so we don't treat them like that, either. Globalization is the next step (ie extending it to the next continent).
Globalization is people leaving their nationalism behind in favour of a global community. It’s generally a good thing, nationalism is a plague, however it’s been co-opted by corporations and capitalists so now it’s the corporations that have the global power not democracy.
And there's the issue isn't it. What was supposed to break down barriers and bring us together in our shared humanity getting warped so that companies can sue countries if their domestic laws affect their bottom line. As ever, the dark side of capitalism ruins something intended to be for the betterment of everyone.
@Phoenix-gb yep! It’s good in principle but capitalism ruined it like it ruins everything.
She says it best...

I understand globalization as the general move towards a more global world, culturally, socially, economically and politically.
Economically for example it can means multinational or transnational businesses taking a front seat to local businesses. It can also mean infrastructure development to make areas more accessible to the rest of the world, either physically with airports, roads, ports or through telecommunications, phone networks, internet cabling etc..
Culturally & socially it can mean the adoption of a lingua franca, currently English, for communication, a common set of cultural normals (such as clothing) being used in the entire world (think suits for example). Internet culture, memes, social media, streaming services being made more accessible to everyone are part of globalisation. Socially people moving around is part also of globalisation, having freedom of movement, immigration is part of globalisation.
Politically it can mean the move towards less sovereign small countries to wider alliances, like the EU, ASEAN, AU etc...
It's a very very very broad term as far as I understand it, and it can be manipulated in so many ways to fit so many narratives. As far as I'm concerned globalisation as a whole is a pretty positive thing, though it does come with a lot of issues too.
This answer is spot on and your quite right sir. The term is quite broad and is manipulated especially by the unassuming and dumb.
I am no conspiracy theorists. I don’t believe in the Freemasons or Illuminati as some secret society trying to pull strings nor rich Jewish bankers manipulating economies. A secret like that couldn’t be kept very long. Instead what I see is an open conspiracy, not led by some ominous secret society but rather by left wing radicals. This is what open boarders and the islamification of Europe are really about. Blending all the nations, peoples, religions, economies, cultures and languages into one innocuous blob, likely under a one world government. This is exactly what all this social justice nonsense is about. Examine Woke ideology carefully and you will see it’s intended to indoctrinate the feeble minded and unassuming under the guise of morality to destroy any uniqueness between peoples, with the followers of such doctrines being the useful idiots to help bring about such a nefarious plan.
Globalisation is offshoring high paying, secure, good benefit western manufacturing jobs to basically slave labor camps in Asia in order to attack US and European workers' unions. Ask any of the vulgar little dancing right wing nazi boys on this site. They've been programmed by Fox News to hate unions. Worker solidarity and Working class prosperity.. Too much of a danger to corporate masters. Notice how they are not allowed to say working class solidarity, or socialism, or community prosperity. But they are allowed to scream day and night about "globalists" and "soros" and a bunch of BS that will never get them anywhere. That is by design. See Elizabeth Fones-Wolff "Selling Free Enterprise", as well as The Powell Memo and the Trilateral Leaders Discuss Global Redistribution Of Power And Problems Of Trilateral Community, Japan, May 1975.
Gerorge Bush arch republican started this BS, when Reagan was a senile old creep. But these little nazi boys can only go as far back as Clinton and give Bush 2 and Trump a pass even though all they did was talk BS and never actually did anything tangible to help the US working class. They are not allowed to.
Right wing, bank bytch Biden is the 11th consecutive ruling class approved Reagan administration. Nothing will change if Trump wins. Working class solidarity or death. See you in hell.
When I first heard the word globalization it meant free trade, closer integration between nations (such as EU) and the global acceptance of capitalism and liberal democracy.
Globalism means all the efforts to strip the sovereignty of nations until there is a one world government.
One government, no religion, no boarders, no restrictions on immigration.
I oppose globalism because to me globalism will destroy the unique cultures of the world.
I consider myself an international nationalist.
I support nationalist movements in other countries (unless linked with an ideology that is destructive like communism) because I want those cultures to be preserved, even if this would be against US interests since the US is the center of globalism.
I’m not what I call a petty nationalist who needs to put other countries down to elevate my own country.
Why would globalism destroy unique cultures? According to so many who answered this question globalism is just some harmless and innocuous concept of “growing internationally together” as one person stated.
You’re quite right it will destroy unique cultures. That’s the intended aim. Blend all the peoples into one. One culture. One religion. One political view. One economy. You hit the nail on the head with that statement.
Globalism would be the better term. It depends who you’re asking. Many on the left will state it is about the interconnectedness of economies and sharing of information and such harmless sounding ideas. This is pure bull.
Why the erosion of national sovereignty of all nations then? Why the adamance against nationalism? Why the open borders in the US? Why the concerted effort in Europe to import (not allow immigration but deliberately bring these people in) as many Muslims as possible and islamify Europe?
Globalization is really about the blending together of all nations and peoples so that there are no more individual nations and no unique and distinct cultures, just one big homogenous blob of everyone and everything.
I stand against globalism.
economically speaking: when it is cheaper for your business to have stuff produced in other places on the planet and then shipped to your location to sell it where you live instead of just producing it locally where you live. that's globalization. when you outsource production.
and then there's also the globalization of communication and culture building as well as distribution of ideas. basically shit that was not possible in previous generations of humans.
just a few 100 years ago, that wouldn't have been possible and it's an ongoing trend of stuff that used to happen only locally or nationally to it now happening on a global scale.
Basically the efforts to move towards a one world government.
The children of the obscenely wealthy are no longer content to rule in obscurity.
If there is a one world government it would be so much easier to manipulate one small group of people.
Yes. Exactly.
globalization is just a global continuous trade agreements. It's capitalism on a global scale. There's something accross the sea to buy and the ability to buy it back home.
Nazi isolationist see globalization as a Jewish conspiracy to take over the world. But global trade is the best way to make money.
Why u watch tv news so often come on they brainwashing you and if u lack intelligence then it works even better. Programming part.
They tell u what they want u to focus on in this case globalization, they are leading you in direction they want you to go.
Show them middle finger okey?
It is when corporations exploit people in 3rd world countries having them work for pennies while they close all the factories in the coiuntry where they first became successful and put all their employees on the unemployment line. All to save ten bucks on a pair of shoes.
Globalization will be achieved when a few to perhaps 100 more masters are in total control with complete control of the media and education, and the rest of us will, in effect be slaves, and believe whatever we are told to believe. It may also the masters will eliminate several billion of the undesirables and unproductive as having no value to them.
In short, people on this earth (globe) are interconnected with each other in areas like social, economic, technological and cultural etc and also we trade goods with each other
your not alone on this, I thought it was more about how the humans moved around the world and took over, or a country like Britain years ago took the land away from the native Americans, that wasn't American then anyway
Technically it’s just one country trading with another. And then another and another. Globally.
Why some people hate it is because labor is now global so poor countries can manufacture things. And lazy assholes want their factory jobs and full time pay.
Globalization is basically a term for the widespread influence of certain trades and businesses if I remember correctly cuz I could be wrong
Ok lets keep it simple,
Globalization is something that means to grow internationally together, both economically and socially.
Grow international together. Exactly. Bye bye nationalism. All for one and one for all now. Not individual nations worrying about their own affairs.
Read the book "1984" by George Orwell to get a sneak peek
If that guy is the smartest man you know, I hope you don't know many men...
If a butterfly flaps its wings in Russia, and an earthquake happens in North America and Europe, then THAT'S Globalization!
Not being isolated. Talking to and trading with other countries. Since other countries may have what you don't have, or not enough of anyway
Really? Ever hear of a telephone? Nations have been taking to each other since parchment and ink were invented?
Like trading is also new. It’s been around since the dawn of time.
@Exterminatore Yet, trump, tried to isolate us from the rest of the world
This isn’t about Trump. I’m simply pointing out that despite different languages people have been communicating and trading since man was on this earth. This is not new. Globalism is not required to trade or communicate. Both have been done for thousands of years.
@Exterminatore Oh, it's def. about trump dude
TRUMP IS A FUCKING BITCH ASS PUSSY
Cool. He hasn’t been president either for over a year. Why the obsession with the man? I bet Trump is snorting Coke off porn stars asses through rolled $100 bills right now and you’re still obsessing about him over a year later. At least find a Republican holding office to hate on. It makes you guys look silly.
@Exterminatore Because he's not the president?
Not since Jan 2021. No one cares about Carter, Clinton or Obama anymore. Not even “W.” They’re not presidents any more.
Some concept blown wayyy out of proportion by the Alex Jones types of the world
Just look up the "World Economic Forum" and "Klaus Swahb" " You will own nothing, and be happy"
Easy movement of goods and people.
