It's mostly a good thing... BUT the transition is going to cause a lot of pain for a lot of people (we're in the transition, and have been for 20+ years, but there's a long way to go still). Inevitably, some people's careers are going to be lost, and some formerly well-off people will do poorly, and some poor people will do well. Transitions are always that way.
Also, caution must be taken to make sure that a few countries don't take advantage of everyone else. Not all countries have equal potential (for example, the amount and type of natural resources varies wildly), so a balance must be found, and inevitably, some are going to want to tip the scales in their favor - and don't care who will suffer as a result.
50 years from now, this question won't need to be asked - but it will probably be a difficult 50 years for a lot of people, though it will improve the lives of billions too.
Its a bad thing right now because there's too much cultural divide and I'm pretty sure a global government would necessarily have to be tyrannical. I believe people should be allowed to live as they want to live. In the context of globalism, we would all be living under the same rules. Where would the communists go? What about the theocrats? How about people who believe in democratic governance? We wouldn't get along. & even if we were given a democratic platform on which to share the planet, I wouldn't want my vote to count as much as a Saudi Arabians who believes its okay to kill gay people or that atheists are terrorists. Globalization will work in the future, I hope, but its not likely in our lifetimes to function well for us.
It has pros and cons. It's a good thing in the sense the world becomes more interconnected, and through that we advance in knowledge which helps with improving technology, education, work, connections, and different countries get to help each others economies. However the con is forms of globalization like trading, where cheap labor takes place in third world countries who work like slaves with very little pay, to give the western globe our products. That is where the imbalance takes place
I'd say it's mostly a good thing. It brings us closer, we are able to connect in ways we couldn't before, we understand each other and it's a way of learning more about other people. Sometimes we end up respecting other people because we learn how to deal with the differences.
However, it has a bad side. Globalization creates problems like cultural appropriation, racism and xenophobia.
Such a braindead, "lamestream" response... No offence.
Lmao at the "subtle" racism xD
Your certainly entitled to say your piece, I won't take that away from ya. And haha, I'm not American, though am white!
Likewise, in the arena of "discourse" I'm entitled to challenge people, as are you.
Well if he or I were to accuse you of being brown, black or yellow, based purely on assumption, as you did, you would probably dindu (nuffin) us till kingdom come about white oppression or some shit...
I mean... come on lmao look at your reply to the guy XD what does being a White American man has to do with anything in this question?
@FreshOutaIdeas See, but you're not any better, dude XD
Lol it's that condescending undertone ("your educated, unlike others") that perpetuates the pointless antagonism. Thanks for the partial compliment (?), but what gives you such a moral and intellectually hyperbolic pedestal, to claim others are essentially inferior?
@AleDeEurope
Haha, good bants mate, can't deny its true! =D
And that's a problem why?
Why should white American men support globalism?
@disgustingweebtrash I didn't say they should support it or not. I said that the ones from GAG don't support it.
So? Your point is? :)
@disgustingweebtrash If you read all the comments you will understand what's my point.
The point is not there. You just brought up the fact that white American men on this site don't support globalism. It seems you are pretty bitter towards white American men
@disgustingweebtrash I'm not bitter towards white American men. I was just stating a fact. The majority of the users who answered this question are white American guys. And they think globalization is a bad thing.
"thinking" globalism is wrong is opinionated.
What does their race have to do with their opinion? In fact to assume it's mostly white American men itself is pretty strange. You know someone's skin colour from a poll? And even if it's white American men why does it matter?
@disgustingweebtrash You do know that this website is American, right? You do know that most users of this website are Americans? You probably also know that most of them are boys/men. And I guess you also know that most users (guys and girls) are white.
So far, I'm the only girl who answered this question, and I've been here for a long time. I know that questions about politics or society usually get more answers from guys than from girls.
That's why I'm saying that white American guys from GAG are against globalization. I'm not saying they're right or wrong, I'm just stating a fact. So, it's not like I hate white American men.
And just because I'm talking about white American men I'm suddenly a racist. I bet that if I was talking about any other "racial" group no one would be offended.
"I'm sorry if I'm not a white American man who think it's bad."
I dunno, sounds bitter to me. There's literally no need to bring it up because it's not an argument.

The deliberate miscegenation of all the worlds *diverse* but HOMOGENIOUS races, colours, cultures and creeds, in favour of a singular world order, in which we "achieve" a molato coloured human race and a culture based on... Well... Non-culture (nihilism)? All so the FIAT currency elite can rub their hands at an economically centralised, global system of monetary enslavement, with a dumbed down populace, with no identifiable characteristics?
***K RIGHT OFF.
‘The man of the future will be of mixed race. Today's races and classes will gradually disappear owing to the vanishing of space, time, and prejudice. The Eurasian-Negroid race of the future, similar in its appearance to the Ancient Egyptians, will replace the diversity of peoples with a diversity of individuals'
Count Richard N. Coudenhove-Kalergi - Practical Idealism.
I'll never forgive those sons of bitches at The Pearson Group for ruining my life. They were into publishing, didn't,'t know shit about manufacturing, bought up Royal Doulton, downsized it, sold it for a profit, but they ruined my life. I won a place at their school of sculpture, but, The Pearson Group closed it, someone I knew who graduated is rich and happy, she,'s doing portraits of all the Queen's horses, posts pictures of herself at Buckingham Palace, I could've been sucesful if it hadn't been for The Pearson Group downsizing Doultons. The people who run these big multinationals ate vermin, they come in, buy, downsize, sell then bugger off and fuck the little guy, well heat,'s one little guy who'sbpissed as hell!
Bad thing. It's good to have good relations with other countries, trade, and all that, but not good when countries start telling other countries how to run their country, like France wants to do with Poland, Hungary, and Czech Republic. Like, who the fuck does Macron think he is he can tell those countries how to run their country?
Globalization is just elites trying to increase their power and have control of the world, so sad so many people are falling for their lies.
For me it's a good thing in that I want to see the world rather than stay in my country for the rest of my life, I get bored really quickly when I stay in one place, travelling is one of the best things in life.
But I know it has its own set of problems so whatever. Ultimately globalism is a result of capitalism and you need globalism/capitalism to have this technology that you're typing on.
Otherwise we'd still be in feudalism times, which is great if you want to stay in your own country but terrible because you'll be on the farm all day and lugging junk around in horse carts.
If you like capitalism but hate globalism, you're a fool who should actually do some more research on matters you obviously don't know anything about.
Economically, I think it's a good idea because good can be traded year round even if they stopped growing for the season. It also gives people jobs where they're needed (even if the wages are low in some places). Culturally, it is detrimental. Languages and traditions are being uprooted. I read an article recently saying that Icelandic is falling out of use in favor of English because that's what a majority of tourists can understand. With Icelandic being virtually unchanged in the last millennium, it is harder for people to learn even if they speak a Germanic language
Oddly enough I say a good thing.
I follow Elon Musk and read a lot of sci fi.
The only foreseeable future I see us having as a species is a space faring one living on multiple colonies and eventually terraforming mars or colonization to the point of having the planet completely covered.
The only way to achieve that I feel is through globalization. Right now our infrastructure is terrestrial based and very disjointed as well as disorganized. Globalization is the key to advancing beyond this planet but the problem we face is that there is so much government corruption that there will never be accords set up that properly address the issues of the people.
The current iteration we have of globablization, the TPP, is a bureaucratic mess that favors corporations and kills competition. That isn't a successful approach imho because it fails to adequately prepare us for the future by doing more of the same.
Giving into supra international regulators dictating blanket economic policy to unique localities is a recipe for poverty and regression. The new world order is a slave empire scheme carried out on a global scale. Don't fall for this corporate bullshit...
TERRIBLE. KEK PUNISH GLOBALISTS.

It's a good thing.. It would create more understanding among people of different cultures than we have now.. And create peace among countries.. But it can be used for evil and corrupt things like everything in this world..
Culturally? So-so.
Economically? Bad. Only few benefit at the expense of many.
It's not meant for us it's meant for them, the elite. We're scum to them they'll try everything to control our breeding and living. Globalisation is the worst thing to happen to the human race, it'll destroy it
Globalization will work in one way and one way only.
The rest of the world takes on America's values.
Problem solved. Globalism achieved.
A tyrannical World Government run by a technocratic elite will be the final sum of "Globalization".
You know it son!
No it's not, anyone who thinks it is truly has no idea what it actually is then.
Economically it's created massive global growth and huge drops in true poverty. It's also helped reduce major conflicts.
Massive pro.
The concept is good, the way it is been practiced no good. Globlalization would be great with a circular economy, unfortunately with a linear economy it´s self destuctive.
Bad because it creates conflict like in the Middle East.
If it didn't exist then I would be jobless. And I bet there billions in my boat.
first of all, no one getting globalized , they can't either. Only one earth goverment would be nice though.
god for some. bad for others.
good thing in theory, bad thing in reality.
Depends if your in the 1%.
more like 0.01%
the earth is flat the globe is a lie
It is a terrible thing.
Globalism is evil.
I don't know
