I think it's not hard to guess what would happen. Cyrano De Bergerac, who was a real person, who lived a life that had to be TONED DOWN for the play, lest people call it unrealistic, was the inventor of modern science fiction. In his book "The Comical History of the States and Empires of the Worlds of the Sun and Moon" (the title is less clunky in French), the narrator voyages to the sun and moon and meets the inhabitants, and, well, knowing how nerds are, you can probably guess what happens next. I think it'd be the same here, just with alien nerds.
