Do you agree majority opinion equals fact?

Question

I saw this male GAG user write if the majority of people have the same opinion about something that makes it a fact.

I disagree with what he wrote though. If the majority of people 80 percent of people vote pizza is better than pasta I think that still doesn’t make it a fact because there might be some people who like pasta better.

It is a fact that is statistically proven, of course everyone will have their own opinions and some might be rarer than others (outliers) but usually the majority makes the rule. Especially depending on what you are trying to answer. If you remove statistics from it then what is a fact in general? Because most facts can be disproven to some extent so then at that point you lose value in what is a fact and what’s an opinion. Of course things will never be black and white, not everyone will fall into the category there will always be a small all it of people that think otherwise, but the keyword here is “some” not most, hence why we have majority rules to avoid the gray area that would only cause more complications

Was it because I think something it doesn't make it real it doesn't make it right it doesn't make it the truth just because I think it I could have got fed a whole bunch of different information and if everybody's going to follow me it still doesn't make it true and nowadays I mean I know a couple guys every word out of their mouth is the big fat lie it's just totally disgusting and I mean there's so many people just like that the bottom line the truth is the truth and until you know the truth it's not a fact

Majority of people is not a fact.

Plenty of times majority of people were wrong.

Like majority of people thought it was okay to have people as slaves.

Back in the day majority of people thought theearth was flat.

Back in ancient times majority of people thought the world was only populated by the lands discovered and no other life existed.

Majority of people used to think men had tiny men living inside of their testicles and that is how women got pregnant.

That’s tough because if I were to say “murder is wrong” then I’m sure most people would consider that a fact but the odds that at least one person doesn’t believe that is pretty high and by your logic that would make it an opinion. But facts are verifiable things so you’re right it wouldn’t be a fact even if the majority believes it since it can’t be verified objectively.

Facts are facts, independently verifiable regardless of whether or not anyone believes them. Facts aren't up for debate, facts don't change with the times, and there is no such thing as "alternative facts" those are just fictional biases because otherwise they'd just be called "Facts" and nobody could reasonably argue them at all.

Majority opinions do not make facts, but neither do minority opinions. However, facts can themselves change over time and better knowledge.

For example atomism was scientific fact up until the early 19th century.

I disagree. In fact if 95% believe one thing and the 5% of the logical people believe different. There are only two possibilities. Either the 5% of logical are correct or they are all both wrong.
