I don't necessarily disagree with that idea, but keep in mind that the social standing of people in the trades is pretty low relative to the rest of the world. Yes they may make a lot of money or at least make decent money but they get their hands dirty and they wear clothes suited to their work and they are look down upon by the rest of the world. Please don't underestimate the power of these things relative to deterring people from going into vocations.

Immigration is okay in moderation. Nobody is denying that. Especially immigration that helps to boost replacement numbers. But because of global warming, leaving our borders open causes a climate refugee crisis which overwhelms the ability of the state to absorb the new migrants. With automation, most low skilled immigration is practically unnecessary and it will cause political instability as it displaces native workers, raises rent, causing mass homelessness, which we are already seeing in sanctuary states like California and New York. Blue states have enormous amounts of homelessness.

Secondly, the bronze age collapse and early middle ages was characterized by climate change also which led to drought, which led to mass migrations into these empires which was a main factor, not the only one, which caused them to collapse.
