The text and her interview was bombastic. But not necessarily inaccurate.
“How do you define Democracy?” Asks 1619 author…and is she wrong?
The text and her interview was bombastic. But not necessarily inaccurate.
I'm disappointed in Wallace, using the falacious argument that someone saying "some" or "many" is really saying "all", so providing a few counter-examples supposedly disproves what they're saying. It does not.
She didn't say most of that generation, let alone all of it, were keeping black people from voting, she said many were, in many states, and successfully.
It's the same argument that says vaccines, masks, or seatbelts aren't 100% effective, so they're useless, or that there were a few dozen cases of voter fraud, so we should throw out the other 160 million votes.
Very frustrating.
She admits her project and her whole career isn't about truth, but a narrative.
And she's wrong, blacks in the US were more free in the US than in African countries rule by black African leaders.
Also, people faught in the war to dismantle white supremacy and anti-semitism in Europe, not to establish democracies, so much they let's hitler's pall stalin rape half of Europe.
She's 100% correct. They weren't "the greatest generation". Were those of this generation who fought for Italy, Germany and Japan great too? Being involved in, and largely responsible for, the most disastrous war in history is hardly "great" by anyone's understanding of that word, and it really is true that the German POW's were treated better than black American soldiers. She is absolutely spot on.
This is a seriously bad argument repeated constantly. The greatest generation did not start WW2, they were forced to fight it. Hitler and Mussolini we're the generation prior. Let's not act like our grandparents were defined by their forcibly drafted positions. What we can say is unlike todays youth they weren't entitled, with inflated egos, who are afraid to get their hands dirty leading to more and more outsourcing. The younger generations are the weakest in human history in terms of physicality and mental strength and that's not even up for dispute. And back then men and women weren't at each other's throats bickering, we didn't have a million made up genders and pronouns, an Americans still had an identity and vision. More united family units, more children who knew both their parents, etc. My grandparents kicked ass, best people I ever knew. I'll never be half the men my grandfathers were. Kids today bitching about fascism that don't know shit about it. Drives me crazy
@anylolone no, OP is right. WW2 was the most disastrous war by far actually. And German pows we’re treated better by the Allies than black American soldiers.
Interestingly, black soldiers were recruited more aggressively in WW1 and made to fight in greater numbers. The French towns they stayed in treated them like equals which scared the American officials who thought it could endanger white supremacy.
And another fun fact, IQ testing and basic training found by far that black Americans from the north were much smarter than southern whites. A report that was hidden until recently.
@anylolone no, are you happy the communists won? You must really like Mao and Stalin.
@anylolone FDR’s liberals fighting for unions, social security and anti-fascism?
@anylolone that’s weird…because that term comes from those “lefties” that fought fascism in the 30s. Now your warped right wing media makes you think “anti-fascist” and “fascist” are the same. It’s not like flammable and inflammable mate.
@anylolone omg you see the same exact thing. Yes Antifa is a copy and paste of the blackshirts. Italian history is my expertise and they pull the same stunts the blackshirts did attacking civilians, throwing objects, burning buildings, they're literally the same evil repeating. Oddbeme is in denial. If you compare the footage from just a few years ago right next to the documentary Italian Fascism In Color it's a copy and paste. These people don't know shit about fascism. My family came from fascist Italy, my grandparents grew up in it, fought their bs wars. Pampered Americans don't know shit about any of that today.
Wow you're bad at following what people say. I said throwing objects, burning things down, attacking people and your brain picked up the colors people wear. Jesus H Christ you are lost. Fascism, you've never experienced it. You don't know what fascism is. When the gov says go to war or we will kill ever member of your family. You never experi that and you never will so shut up about if. by the way Chris Wallace is a joke. Everyone at CNN is a joke and that is why CNN+ flopped so hard.
@anylolone and Winston Churchill was a staunch conservative at that
@anylolone you both have infantile views of “socialism” and “fascism”. You think anything big govt is the left. Yet the patriot act, both wars, repression of abortion is all from right wingers.
@OddBeMe incorrect I know the difference between authoritarianism which is the umbrella of tyranny such as communism, fascism, and imperialism. It was a subject I have a degree in. Go home, you're our of your depth. You're another one who's afraid to question the official stories and that's why you're completely lost in this life
You believed Trump was a fascist, you believe the right is fascist, but only the left tries to control free speech or go after guns. You guys are the authoritarians and you're so goddamn afraid of freedom it's actually scary. You're the type of useful idiot Stalin positively loved.
@OddBeMe the fact you never take a look in the mirror before making such a response shows how lost you are. I'll wait for one time you've ever conceded even a hint of ignorance on any subject or the possibility of being wrong no matter how much logic, reason, and/or evidence is flung your way. You always yap like a pro state puppet, every time with fail
Not to me you didn't. I know another did to me. However you highlight the point though that clearly I knew what I was talking about. Have I been wrong about politics? Yes I underestimated the dislike for trump. I thought for sure enough people could see how inept Biden was, I was wrong. Perhaps the pressure at the pump and grocery store registers will sober up enough people to realize mean words aren't worth worrying about when they have a shrinking bank account, debts, and a nation in a further weakened position. I wonder if the images in Afghanistan will have woken up people that there are far greater concerns then gender identity and feelings. I don't argue on subjects I'm ignorant on. I pick my battles carefully. If I'm ignorant on a subject I keep my mouth shut until such time I am informed. That's why I can argue with you so confidently.

Wow chris Wallis is a liberal. If he’s to right wing we’re in trouble.
Democracy is the Process where the people all decided government. This is why the United States was never meant to be a true democracy. They fear that the marble take out even if it’s a bare majority. This if 51% wanted to make it illegal to get a gender transition treatment you would say that’s unfair, this is why we have a 60% majority. Or the electoral college
The Overton window has shifted drastically in the last 5 years, which is why more and more liberals are identifying with the populist right. Anything right of the establishment uni-party is “far right”.
@DarkWinterNights this is true I’m libertarian and they consider me far right, I’m properly more of an Anarchist, Or highly authoritarian when it comes to people in the government and libertarians to the average citizens. Like I think we should plant a bomb in politicians heads and if they lie once even if it’s a little white lie there head explodes
It is true that racial inequalities were a dark period in America It is not true that there are black people in America today that are not allowed to vote. This is just a ploy so there can be unsolicited mail in ballots again and the democrats can steal another election. They keep talking about voter suppression but so far have not been able to name one single instance of a occurrence where somebody who is a citizen has been denied the right to vote.
Complete morons *have* been pointing randomly, but they haven't come up with significant voter fraud (meaning more than a few people, and the cases there are include many Republicans and even Trump's CoS). Speaking of... Did you see the Mark Meadows texts?
Here's one that shows they knew there was nothing to see with the "suitcases" claim:
December 4, 2020
Jared Kushner to Mark Meadows
leadstories.com/.../...poll-workers-dismissed.html
Or this one, about how their "urban vote stealing narrative" didn't stand up:
November 6, 2020
Jason Miller to Hope Hicks, Jared Kushner, Mark Meadows, Dan Scavino, Bill Stepien and Ivanka Trump
One other key data point: In 2016, POTUS received 15.5% of the vote in Philadelphia County. 'Today he is currently at 18.3%. 'So he increased from his performance in 2016. In 2016, Philadelphia County made up 11.3% of the total vote in the state. 'As it currently stands, Philadelphia County only makes up 10.2% of the statewide vote tally. So POTUS performed better in a smaller share. Sen. Santorum was just making this point on CNN - cuts hard against the urban vote stealing narrative.
Or, this exchange about Sydney Powell:
November 22, 2020
Ginni Thomas to Mark Meadows
Trying to understand the Sidney Powell distancing...
Meadows to Ginni Thomas
She doesn't have anything or at least she won't share it if she does
Ginni Thomas to Meadows
Wow!
@anylolone They should be ok, with all that money those leftists aholes received that they bitched could have gone to end world hunger, they now have that ability.
@exitseven Think they would ever agree to a one day election? All paper ballots, no Dominion Voter Machines, no Zuckerberg funded drop boxes, etc? No mail-in fake ballots? No dead people voting? Not having battleground states pause voting? Voter ID? It's the most fair and honest election of all times that can never be questioned.
@anylolone somehow I got numb after dumbass billionaires take jobs they can’t possibly succeed at.
“Voter suppression” got us “record turnout” and more African-American voters in an election ever in 2020 and your decrepit ass addled child sniffing hero who couldn’t get 100 people to show up to a rally managed to still win.
But yeah. There’s “voter suppression.” Gimme a fucking break.
Can you give me one instance of voter suppression? One? “Frances Collins went to go vote and they asked her for her ID and told her ass to take a hike.” Is that really so much to ask for? Why it’d be all over the goddamn news, it’d be a fucking national sensation, MSNBC would pull out Al Sharpton to talk all about how Frances Collins was turned away.
Only they have never done that. And we have never heard of any instance of a specific person being denied a vote. US citizen? Check. Old enough? Check. Drivers license? (Don’t ask for this, it’s racist 🙄) Not a felon? Okay you’re good to go.
Instead we get.
“You’re blocking us from ballot harvesting and handing out milk and cookies in the lines at the voting centers and preventing us from sweet talking voters waiting in line. You’re a racist Nazi vote suppressing fuck!”
It’s such bullshit. But hey, anything to stack the deck in your side’s favor.
“ Jesus, how much evidence is needed for you guys to get off this election fraud bs?”
How much evidence do you need to believe that the election was full of irregularities and was manufactured to achieve a desired result?
But hey a judge said there was “nothing to see here folks!” and that’s supposed to make us all just ignore the goddamn mountain of suspicious shit that happened.
And if we ask for a full and complete recount and audit?
“OMG no just fucking no! Trump lost. Shut the fuck up! No!”
We endured four years of liberal lies about Russian collision in a stolen election in 2016. You won’t even give us a goddamn week to say that shit was a little fishy.
But I know, I know, it’s (D) ifferent. 🙄
@Agagagagaga Even watching the months leading up to the election you had a trump rally with 35.000 people show up. I hwrd there would be a Trump boat parade at a local beach. I live in a real moonbat state and did not expect more than a couple of dozen boats. I drove down thee and had t opark a half mile away. There were thousands of people on the beach with American flags and Trump signs. I saw over 2000 boats. A lot of them were cabin cruisers and big sailboats. Lots were decorated in red, white and blue. Biden gives a speech and 200 cars show up and everyone keeps their masks on while sleepy joe tells how he is going to shut down fossil fuel, ship your jobs to china, raise taxes and take away your guns. Do you really expect me to believe thate nough people went out to vote for a broken down, second rate swamp creature with obvious cognitive decline?
@Agagagagaga Feel better?
Voter suppression backfires when people realise it's going on. They'll wait in those intentionally long lines, even if they have to bring their own food and drink.
The "irregularities" were due to a pandemic, and designed to have as many people as possible vote. Explain why that's a bad thing.
Not one, but 60 judges, including some appointed by Trump said "nothing to see here folks!" because (and I know you find this hard to believe) there was nothing to see there. Sydney Powell was lying. Trump was lying. Guiliani was lying. Lindell was lying. All the others were lying. Just listen to what Republicans were saying in private compared to what they're telling you. They're lying.
You get recounts and audits: what happens? More votes for Biden. A quick check for ballots for Republican Senators and Representatives but not for President should have been enough. If you cared about the truth.
@anylolone Most people are in favour of voter ID if the ID is available to everyone with a right to vote, even the ones who can't afford to pay or take time off work. But I didn't mention voter ID once. Look:

@goaded I feel just fine. Though I do have to take breaks every now and then to recover after communicating with Leftist mongoloids.
I really don’t care to list the number of irregularities and shady bullshit that happened on election night. Unlike you, I don’t swallow whatever stupid bullshit the liberal media waves in front of my face.
Let’s just say that when they are kicking out election monitors and pulling out cases of ballots from vans and beneath tables, it looks pretty goddamn suspect.
Of course the Democrats could have allayed all of these concerns and questions that people have. They could have said, “You want a full nationwide recount? Sounds good in the interest of national unity. I mean an election IS a pretty big deal, right?”
But no. We didn’t get the nationwide recount did we. We got insulted and told to move on. So I will never, never believe that Joe Biden won the election. Never. Sure, he’s the president, but he damn sure wasn’t picked in a free and open election. If he was there would be nothing to hide. You should welcome an audit.
@Agagagagaga Trump insiders knew the "suitcases" thing was bogus in 2020, keep up!
"December 4, 2020
Jared Kushner to Mark Meadows
leadstories.com/.../...poll-workers-dismissed.html "
You've had "audits", they found nothing but more votes for Biden. Seriously, if you have ballots for Republican House and Senate but not for Trump, there's a reason for that, Or do you want the House and Senate winners removed?
@goaded "As long as they can get an ID" man, if you can't get an ID you figure out a way to get an ID.
It's literally an issue of life and death when it comes to dealing with cops.
And you can't do basically nothing without it. But ok, you didn't mentioned it, that's all right.
Oh, we had presencial voting here, no mail in. Everything was alright.
The irregularities clearly weren't made to make more people vote who have a right to vote.
It's voting, if there's worthy candidates, people will show, if there's not, nothing will get them voting.
The US basically fought two brutal civil wars for voting rights.
@anylolone You know, if you're going to make a quote, make it something that somebody actually said.
There was a pandemic, vaccines were not yet available, and you wanted people to turn up in person. Smart. AFAIK there was only one civil war, and it wasn't about voting rights, it was about keeping slaves despite the democratic process deciding the country didn't want that any more. And during the actual civil war, there was mail-in voting.
There's never been a more free and open election than in 2020, nor has there been an attempt to corrupt the vote counting process in such a clear election to steal the presidency like Trump tried. And now they're trying to get corrupt people into position to lie about the next election they lose.
Recounts almost never make a significant difference to the count, maybe a few hundred votes here or there (in 2000, the difference in Florida was literally a few hundred votes).
@goaded The fix was in for Biden to have even won the damn primaries. To accept The Potato Head as our totally legitimate prez, 81 quadrillion votes, "fairest and most secure election of all times" , we must believe the voters hammered the Democrats in congressional, state, and local elections, yet decided to elect the “leader” of their party president. We must believe that he dramatically underperformed among minority voters, yet received 10 million more votes than Barack Obama (200 fewer counties). We must believe that virtually all of the reliable election bellwethers were wrong. We must believe that all of the elections in the swing states were conducted honestly and that the Venezuelan software used to tabulate the votes was secure. The stupid bastard has more people show up to give him the finger as opposed to those that support him. Worst approval rating, and these are highly padded, in the history of the country. Won the fewest counties in history.
@northwestripper666 Or, using Occam's razor, millions of Democrats and Independents (and more than a few Republicans) turned out to vote AGAINST extremely unpopular Trump.
And, by the way, Democrats took the Senate and kept the House with five million more votes than for Republicans.
"Worst approval rating"? Biden's rating has only just recently touched where Trump was at the same point in his term, and spent a couple of hundred days above 50%, while Trump's never even reached 46%. projects.fivethirtyeight.com/.../
Land doesn't vote, people do. What's the point in counting counties?
@anylolone There were hand recounts as well. They found that the mechanical counts were accurate.
@northwestripper666 Do you check a single thing you claim? "Venezuelan software", by which you mean Smartmatic: their software and hardware were developed in the United States, and used in exactly ONE county in the whole US 2020 presidential election. The election was no doubt decided by Los Angeles county.
@goaded No matter what you dbags say, you will never convince us that Biden is legit. It's common sense by now. The fact that well over half the country and 30% of Democrats believe he stole the election is pretty telling on how fucked up and corrupt our government is that no one with a brain has any faith in our government. Lefties love Government, it's your faith, it's your God. We don't give a flying fuck.
@goaded Keep on bringing the witch hunts. It's so fun. Bugs Eye busted. Adam Pencil Neck Schiff. Totally the Russian Collusion hoax should have Obama and Hillary going to jail, but it won't happen. Do you realize how much of a movie our government is? Yet you totally believe Trump is a bad guy and you hang on to Orangeman Bad. Orangeman is RAD. The next few years are all popcorn time.
@northwestripper666 You think you're "calling me out"? Funny.
Here's the thing. If something is true, over time more evidence comes out to support the claims (like Trump's campaign manager giving internal campaign documents to a Russian agent). If it's false, like there being significant fraud in the election or that Trump had nothing to do with the attack on the Capitol, all the lies just become more and more exposed. There's a reason Republican leaders were texting for Trump to call it off at the time.
@anylolone Didn't Cawthorn probably marry one? Quick reminder of what you were responding to, if you like, you can address any of the issues rather than deflecting:

@anylolone Why wasn't Trump warned about what? McConnell knew Russia was interfering well before the election but refused to make a joint statement telling Russia to GTFO.
@anylolone What makes you think candidate Trump wasn't warned about Konstantin Kilimnik, or that the FBI knew at the time he was a Russian agent? Who do you think Manafort thought he was handing internal campaign documents (the sort of thing campaigns keep to themselves) to? And what do you think they thought the information would be used for? It sure as hell wasn't that they thought they'd pass it on to the Clinton campaign, now was it?
@anylolone So, because you haven't seen a document that would probably be classified, if it existed, that means that the FBI knew in 2016 that Konstantin Kilimnik was working for the Russians and that they didn't "warn" Trump that the person his campaign manager was passing internal documentation to was possibly a Russian agent? As opposed to what? What reason would Manafort have to passing internal campaign documents to a foreigner, other than for help in the election?
@anylolone Oh, really? Where's the document that shows that?
@anylolone Yes it was, the document was leaked, not declassified, and nothing says he did anything wrong at the time or that "He's still carrying water for the CCP, by the way.".
@anylolone There's no evidence he slept with her, just accusations from liars with an axe to grind. Same for your "carrying water" crap.
@goaded "The results will be predictable."
Yes. Higher turnout, which Republicans hate. I ask you this. >> If God came down and said I got some news for you. Most counties in history goes to so and so? Would you like to bet the farm and every last red cent penny you got? What would you say? No sirr!!! Said no one. Pile it on. You lefty retard would seriously say to God? Nope. I'm just going to play Powerball, I will do scratch tickets. I will have me Pull Tabs. But no, fuck no, I will not take this lead!!! I will not do it, because I'm fucking retarded.
@anylolone Nope. And they didn't even lock anyone up for obstructing the investigation. Not like Trump.
The U. S. A. is a representative republic... not a true democracy.
The creators of the country didn't go with a pure democracy so that the rights of the minority would not go unprotected (as they are in a pure democracy).
He's often wrong these days, but Maher gets this one pretty much on the nose:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GDkjjGZ92NQ
@anylolone sorry just saw this. Wha?
@anylolone No, you just made no sense.
@anylolone The problem was that other people felt free to lynch them, destroy their communities, overturn their democratically elected government, refuse to lend them money to buy housing, refuse them support given to white soldiers, etc.
@goaded is this Anylon?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=He4lO6Ggk_I
@anylolone Compared to now, dumbass. We're discussing people in the United States.
@anylolone a govt can see a sin was committed against a community, like the Native Americans, and give them benefits to make amends. That hasn’t happened at all despite 300 years of slavery.
@anylolone What are you talking about? We're talking about Black Americans in America after the civil war. Most had never been to Africa, they were children of other slaves. The African slave trade was stopped by the British a generation before the civil war.
@anylolone That's not the context, that's the phrase you used while we were talking about the USA and their rights weren't protected for a hundred years, even after the civil war. In that context, many weren't free to vote, weren't free to go into businesses, weren't free to marry whoever they liked, or even sit whereever they liked in busses. You know this, you're just bullshitting.
@anylolone Compared to what? Compared to before the war, when they were slaves? Or after the civil rights acts were passed, and they were finally allowed to vote, marry, sit anywhere on busses, etc.
@anylolone Why do you think that? A lot of African countries in the 19th century were the same as they'd been for centuries, and people could do anything they wanted. Face it, it's just a trolling talking point to hide US history.
@anylolone we have no idea about the conditions in Africa during those times.
No, I'm bringing perspective and ascribing guilt to the guilty while also understanding the context of the situation.
Though they did sold their own people (debt slavery was and is a thing) it was mostly their neighbors.
When benin begged Britain to not stop the slave trade, they didn't spoke about the pride of selling their own as slaves, they spoke about the pride of selling their enemies into slavery.
PanAfricanism, IE, African national socialism, is your idea.
@anylolone so wait, first, when were whites slaves?
@anylolone Umm… “Mustafa Kemal Atatürk wearing the traditional Janissary uniform at a masquerade ball during his early years in the Ottoman Army.”
Sounds awful.
@anylolone I don't doubt white people have suffered. But that doesn't absolve the US from 300 years of slavery.
No, what absolves the US from 300 years of slavery is what the regions in which the slaves came did, how much slavery they perpetuated before and after, how much freedom they curtailed, how much they failed to raise humanity from their natural state of misery.
There's a core juridical principle in there, you get points if you can figure it out which one is.
@anylolone wait... our American government had slavery on the books for 300 years, and you think we're absolved because we stopped?
@anylolone “stopped early” …what does that mean?
"Brazil was the last country in the Western world to abolish the enslavement of human beings. ... slavery was abolished, on May 13, 1888"
That's 81 years after the British Empire abolished the slave trade, and 55 after they abolished slavery altogether. (Fun fact: the slaves were bought out by the government and the debt wasn't paid off until a few years ago. IIRC, the slaves were still stuck with 8 years unpaid work.)
she seems like a smart woman. i'm sure it's a good book
oh come on. i am conservative. i'm open to the converse
it's good. just taking it easy today
And now you know why CRT won’t be taught in schools.
@Snsl153 Because CRT is cultural marxism. Any marxism or socialism should be dismissed outright with anyone with a brain.
@Snsl153 I know exactly what both are, thanks for the attempt at being smarter than me. Weird how the 1619 project is an integral part of the CRT curriculum.
https://criticalrace.org/the-1619-project/
So which are you, an idiot or a leftard?
"Attempt" at being smarter than you? No, I actually am smarter than you, and more honest as well. I don't label everything as CRT just because it's being said by someone who is black, or female, or has political views that are somewhere to the left of Ghenghiz Khan's.
And your usage of words like "leftard" (that's not a word, by the way) tell me all I really need to know about you personally, and I can truthfully say that I don't have to interact with you in real life. I only associate with people who actually have something of substance between their ears, not empty space.
@Snsl153 Trust me, I have no desire to hang out with an NPC twat, either.
@Snsl153 wow good one. Now thank the greatest generation you aren't typing your bullshit in German.
Wow, you really are an idiot. The "greatest generation" you say. Tell me, what IS a generation? Does it not include everyone born during a certain timeframe? Yes, it does. That being the case, would it not include members of that generation who were born in Italy, Germany and Japan? Yes, I believe it would.
Go away you clown, and stop wasting my time!
@Snsl153 lmao. you're really a stupid cunt, aren't you.
@Snsl153 lol, no you didn't. You'd have to mean somehting for that to happen. You're just a little shit stain.
@Snsl153 Why? So I can become a brainwashed idiot like you?
@Snsl153 And you're 25 and should know better.
@Snsl153 lol, you've not demonstrated one thing that anyone could call intelligence.
Well, trying to get someone like you to understand something as basic as the dictionary definition of a generation is certainly a waste of my time, and I guess you could argue that someone who wastes their time trying to educate a complete moron should have the sense to not bother.
@Snsl153 haha, What a stupid thing to be hung up on. Are you autistic?
@OddBeMe Since you morons love to be ignorant, I'll let you know. Funny you dipshits can claim something doesn't exist then get upset when someone calls it out (like CRT). Marxism is an interpretation of the world in the lens of oppressors and oppressed. Marx used economics and wealth. Cultural marxism claims there are groups in a culture that are oppressors and those who are oppressed. The oppressed being minorities, the alphabet mafia, et al. The oppressors being heterosexual white christians.
Marxism isn't a valid criticism. So I don't see why cultural marxism should be. They're both bullshit philosophies.
@Snsl153 you could have just typed ‘yes’. That would have been easier.
@Snsl153 Because you seem unable to process normal thinking.
@Snsl153 We have adequate common sense gun laws. Universal Health Care? Eat shit commie.
The states with the strictest gun laws have the highest gun crime/murder rates. So there's that.
So you have a population problem, not a gun law problem.
