Do you think affirmative action is a good social policy?

Say you are white and are looking for a job, health care, education, etc... but any other minority group is always get first choice to get or fill the positions. Is this a good idea where merit and qualifications mean nothing when you can be a minority and still fill positions or get first crack at schools even though are are not remotely entitled to attend but get where you are solely based on your skin color.

Affirmative Action was NEVER a good policy - ever.

The plan of putting people into positions simply because of their skin color (or gender - and yes, there's ONLY 2 of those), rather than due to their experience or job qualifications is stupid on its face.

The Dayton Ohio Police Force announced in 2017 they were going to reduce the scores for minorities to join the police. Think about the quality of their police force with lower scoring minorities - JUST so it looks like they have a similar societal mix.

Consider the fact the US President decided to select a "woman of color" as his running mate. In my lifetime, I cannot think of any Vice President who represents this country in a worse possible way.

Consider the idea that the most recent SCOTUS appointee is a black female... and when asked a rather mundane Q, "Can you provide a definition of a woman?" She said she could not. This is someone who WILL be determining judgment on multiple cases that involve gender-based issues! She's there for 2 reasons - her skin color and that she's a she. You tell me if those are smart reasons to appoint people to the highest court in the country.

The above examples show how stupid it is to apply Affirmative Action policy to real life situations. There are MANY more where AA has failed the overall outcome.

Just look at NYC run by all sorts of people without qualifications Just look the Fire Dept people could not pass the test lucky they could spell their name filed a suit and some asshole judge appointed himself to hire applicants not who is best but buy who is most ignorant cannot read write do math and speaks in Ebonics they do not speak English they get the job as is with the rest of the city jobs. No, it only causes inefficiency and divides the country. It can never be a fair system because the people that decide who gets the special treatment have their own agendas and it often is based more on getting votes than actually having a fair system.

It prevents meritocracy which is what any free society should champion. The best for the jobs, that makes a nation and society stronger. Anything else just slows down progress and weakens us.

Affirmative action had its place. However, now it is outdated and unneeded. In fact, by today's standards, affirmative action is racist.
