If you had the choice between a short and painless death to a long and painful one what one would you pick and why?

Some people say they are ready to die at a moments notice, I am because I would embrace death as an old friend. Quick and painless with no regrets.

For some people like to fight and keep fighting even though they are fighting a loosing war. These people fight off the pain to be able to see family and loved ones just for a little bit longer. So they end up with painful long deaths.

To say that Religious martyr killing them selves does not qualify. I am sure you all know as to who I speak of.

Quick and painless for me. If it's the risk of something very painful though, I'd take the risk. But if it's guaranteed to be tortuous no matter what I do, I want the quick one. I'm the ultimate risk-taker but no masochist.

Sometimes I worry a bit about the long and drawn-out ones and less so about the pain but if I can take it like a man. Say someone ever-so-slowly puts drills my eyeballs out, only moving the drill a quarter of an inch every hour. I don't know if I could be so manly and avoid screaming or complaining then. I am very worried about that. I hope I don't but I don't know if I could avoid it.

... or they start cutting away my flesh and pour salt and alcohol into my wounds while I'm flayed. I don't know if I can endure it. I don't want to unless I risked something big like trying to save someone else. Then I still don't want it to happen but then I'd feel better if I at least suffered these consequences on behalf of saving someone else.

I've succeeded so far in avoiding complaining about my injuries so far, but the worst I've had are just things like broken bones, a severed toe, a minor ocular puncture, drill through the roof of my mouth without painkillers (felt it in my nose even though it never reached my nasal passage), etc. I keep thinking there is some limit to what I can endure until I want to start complaining about it.
