Nope, I don't think that's even slightly true.
A few know what they want to do with their lives, and know the qualifications they need to make it happen. Most go for the lifestyle. 3 years of partying with other like-minded young people is a lot more appealing to an 18 year old than the drudgery of a 9-5.
The reality is that the vast majority of those who don't go to university, do NOT spend the three years gaining valuable real world skills that allow them to become entrepreneurs, or doing anything worthwhile - they spend it stacking shelves in a supermarket (and many never do anything much more with their lives). It might be something they later wished they had done, but at the time, very few 18 year olds would have had the maturity and confidence.

University gives you real-life skills, in the UK at least most courses will make you do placements with employers, you also do not start paying back your university fees until you earn 27,000£ a year. People go to university so they can study what they enjoy and expand their knowledge but mostly, so we can guarantee a stable life. Get over it.

I disagree to an extent, not all skills have to be useful to be good. For example: Learning Greek is a perfectly good skill even though it’s not that useful. A liberal arts degree is also good even though it won’t necessarily give you a high income job. So a communications degree is a good degree to have even though it’s not necessarily useful. On the other hand, maybe he should’ve gotten some money from a degree first, and then gotten a communications degree, and maybe y’know be a little financially intelligent.
Huh? I said fuck that and got on the pipeline. Made my first 6 figures, long hours but it was good.
I went to school for the social inclusivity and recognition of having a degree, not for the income boost, I have ways to make money without a degree such as comedic routines or art and music creation or pastor etc…
