What do you will happen with the Supreme Court overturning Roe V Wade?

A leaker released a draft SCOTUS opinion showing that the Supreme Court of the United States will be overturning Roe v Wade. The result will be that States will be free to ban or allow abortion as they see fit. Some sources believe as many as 26 States will be banning or restricting abortion based on the will of their peoples, similar to how some states have nearly banned gun ownership vs other states allowing very free gun ownership.

Congress could still pass a federal bill supporting or restricting abortion, however that would requirement Representatives and Senators to actually put their names down and support it or oppose it.

Thoughts? Will no one care, or will the Left become the new Confederacy and try to secede from the USA, will people riot in the streets?

This is how it’s supposed to be. Every state is supposed to have a say in their laws so the laws meet the standards of the people in it. Like New Yorkers don’t need a gun that might go through the wall and kill a neighbor but someone in rural Texas who’s nearest neighbor is nearly an acre away might need guns to protect their family from wild animals like rattlesnakes, cougars, coyotes.


Anyone that disagrees can either leave or live with the decision. OR they can stop having sex with reason people OR they COULD just accept their pregnant and carry the child then leave it at an orphanage Day 1… consequences are undesirable but should also be unavoidable.

A lot of states already have laws in place that come into effect if roe is overturned. Many more will likely pass similar laws to either enshrine or control abortion. But the consequences of roe being overturned have far reaching consequences. i. e. marriage equality, birth control, what you can and can't do in the bedroom, medical decisions in general, the concept of privacy itself are all in danger. Roe was based on a lot of very important legal principles that didn't just protect women but everyone in numerous ways and theyre in danger now.

Ehhh I don't think Roe V Wade being overturned really means any risk for Griswold. Simple example, have you seen or heard of any political group or any serious political figure that wanted anal or birth control outlawed?

2) several states have laws against sodomy. the antiabortion movement is intrinsically and intimately connected to efforts to undermine the legality of and access to contraceptives.

Ehh the opinion specifically states it's only in relation to abortion rights, not any other.

except it explicitly says that the rationale for overturning roe is that no reference to it is made by the constitution and therefore no protection of that right is implied. it very well does concern anything that isn't explicitly referenced by the constitution. i. e. privacy rights in general. and it should also be noted that these same justices testified under oath to the senate committee that roe was settled law. The assertion that this decision making will not bleed into other areas should not be believed.

Even if somehow that happened, overturning Roe v Wade doesn't ban abortion, it merely allows states to handle it. Similar to how California has extremely strict gun control vs Georgia or Florida.

The issue will be as it SHOULD have been in '73, and left up to the individual states to regulate. If you live in a state that bans abortion, my strong suggestion is be extremely careful who you have sex with, specifically if you think abortion should be a form of birth control.

I hope the SCOTUS does the same thing with gay marriage too. There's absolutely nothing in the Constitution, and no codified US law that says gay marriage is OK. That should be determined by the individual states.

No one will care in the longer term. They will be some protests, but after a few weeks people would forget about it. Most people have very short memory.

Besides few people point abortion as their biggest issue. They're mostly concerned about costs of living, which is unfavourable for Democrats.

It will fall to the states, which is good for states’ rights, but it just means that blue states will ramp up abortion and red states will stop it.


It just means people’s plans change, that’s all. So they been able to get a free abortion a day before the baby is born, but they’ll have to travel to the next state to do it. It doesn’t really solve any issues.

Many states will approve abortions. Many will not.
The 10th Amendment provides for that.
