It's a silly concept, and makes me think of the Rick and Morty episode where he collapses a civilization by changing the value of their currency from 1 to 0. It's not like it would stop robberies either, with the rise of NFT and chips, you can pick up the data with a mid range scanner, passport information too. Collect and sell identities online, personally I'd rather give up the cash in my wallet rather than my credit and banking info if I had to choose.
I don't think it would ever go true "cashless" though, regardless of the effort put in, just like a lot of junkies when stealing or selling wash the transactions with apple cards, amazon, or other cash based store cards to sell. We are semi-cashless right now though. If for some reason we were called in to print money for all our national debt, not even repay them, it would be an undertaking rivalling the hoover dam. Hell, add in some bondo and we could probably make another dam out of cash.
Digital currency means YOUR money is still controlled by another entity (Gov't, business, etc...). Then CAN code that $$ to be used how THEY expect you to spend it.
While a cashless society removes many problems, it introduces multiple other ones that make the situation MUCH worse! YOUR money is no longer under YOUR control. If you can get it, it also can be extremely easy to remove it too!
Imagine how Democrats would handle all the TRILLIONS of dollars in 401K accounts people have and aren't spending that $$ on the Green New Deal, or social issues, or green energy, or... any number of things THEY demand it be used for? Keep your cashless society!
governments are already fining people automatically out of their bank accounts.
Maybe so, but with digital currency, they'll be able to code that currency to be spent ONLY on certain things - perhaps a debt you're not ready to pay on, yet, or specifically for a fine. Or... prevent you from using it for certain charities. Regardless, YOU... won't have full control over YOUR financial assets.
Let me tell you my worst nightmare. I have my money in the bank, but they decide for whatever reason to shut their whole system and I can't access my money because it's not even money anymore just some numbers made up.
I am actually worried about the future and thinking of looking into buying a land, or something that is tangible.
It seems like it is now… go to the store.. n everyone use’s a phone to tap something n pay. As I dig around for my money.. lol. 19 an proud to have cash.
@Guy13 Italian but in Canada.

Nah but also shrugs. It's gonna happen anyway but it won't be as this photo say's at all so...
Since one can keep cash stored away just in a different account or place so that's easily done.
Garage sales and markets? of course they would still exist smh. People would just bargain on how much they want to send to one account to the other.
Of course you can sell stuff to other's.
Cash is always traceable? You've clearly never heard of buying drugs online illegally there is tons of ways to buy stuff without in hand cash that's not traceable.
Etc etc. This photo example is basically everything false that one believes would go away without cash lol.
The only reason I wouldn't want a cashless society is because I just like coins sometimes.
I wouldn't mind, I hardly use cash anyway. Basically I only use it if there is no alternative to pay with my phone, credit card or debit card. In western countries, >99% of my payments are electronic. In non-western countries, I use cash a bit more for smaller transactions, in such countries it's not always possible to pay electronically.
The idea that some people have that all of a sudden your money can be worthless exists with paper money and coins as well. It has happened in the past that countries decided all of a sudden to devaluate their currency, or that certain money wasn't legal tender anymore.
Here is reality at least us Americans will never again stand up to our dictatorship. We sit around and bitch all day but at the end of the day we ALL DO NOTHING! They already know where you go and what you buy. Cashless society would stop a lot of crime.
I'm not ready to need permission from bureaucrats for my purchases.
I know a certain moments people feel that a cashless society is a great thing but it isn't it comes with a lot of drawbacks. Especially when your money is only computerized you can't hack physical money but you can definitely had something within the system. All of your Bitcoin and bank accounts and such yeah
That would be perfect. Having banks and the government monitor literally all of my financial info and then having the option to turn off my finances at any time. Not to mention the Biblical prophetic ramifications from such an event. A cashless society would be profoundly bad.
It's where things are already headed. I have only used cash once in the last three months.
As for the privacy element, that's why crypto needs broader adoption.
Even if cash disappears there will always be something that fills the role. Wallets on thumb drives, previous metals etc.
Not "No" but "Hell No." I don't approve of government money, nor for government to have any control over our money. Without government money, their would be private money that wouldn't depreciate year after year because the government wouldn't be able to counterfeit it and otherwise create it in unlimited amounts or change the value with the stroke of a pin like FDR Nixon did with gold.
In a cashless society they would have control over your money hence control over you they'll be able to monitor what you buy track where you go etc and if you don't behave they shut of your access to your money... coming soon to tour world Big Brother1984
I never pay with cash anyways, so who cares. I'm also not a paranoid conspiracy theorist who thinks the government monitors useless information like what people buy.
Nearly every point in the "a cashless society means" section is idiotic. who gives a fuck about piggy banks or money in birthday cards. and cash apps like venmo, google pay, etc can handle nearly all those situations.
No do you know how difficult it is to have to pay my bill run off to the bank get cash out and pay it back off again On the spot I like cash. I don’t wanna have to get a big payment going on credit cards
No, it is just a way for the government to know your business.
Those conclusions are completely wrong. Sweden is basically cashless, and we still got fleamarkets and can just transfer money quickly between each other with the phone.
Fuck nah. I do use a card but i always keep cash on me in case of something.
What about people who don't want to interact with electronics at all? You have to give the old heads who stick with paper an option.
It’s so obviously being pushed as a way to track and control people.
no but it will happen cause society prefers
satan
rather then Christ

I never do not have some form of tangible goods. I would go for cashless but barter system. Not all digital. I will never accept digital.
nope. sure don't. for some reason, i just don't think it would be as exciting holding up my phone to swipe card readers at the strip club, as it is stuffing physical money into their g-string
Literally the stupidest idea I have ever heard in my entire life
I am a libertarian
