I think some places in Sweden have this.

The benefits: you have all your cash in one card and stay organized and your purse and hands never smell like dirty cash or coins.

The Cons: The government knows exactly how much money you have. Every purchase is always located back to you.

New Zealand is one country that is making an effort towards being cashless, and it's a little concerning. Sure it's convenient, but paying with your card rather than with cash makes it harder to keep track of how much you spend each day since you just swipe your card and forget about the total until you log in online to check. With cash, you can see how much you have left in your wallet, making you more wary of going over budget.

Aside from government tracking etc, going cashless can also worsen economic equality. If you are homeless, then you can't open a bank account because an address is needed to prove your identity and to receive your bank card in the mail. Then if you are homeless without electronic banking, you won't be able to buy from many stores since they only accept electronic payments. Additionally, if you don't have an electronic bank account, then your chances of getting a job are reduced since most employers do not pay cash anymore.

As much as is feasible, I  ONLY  work in cash- and I'm nearly there. In an era when phone bills can only be paid with electronic payments, email addresses require phone verification (most of them, anyway), and pay phones no longer exist (realistically), anonymity is pretty much a myth. That's enough to scare anybody who's paying even the smallest bit of attention.

In the business world, I dont like counting dollars and cents. I've been reprimanded and even fired for being short or over. Being cashless helps in that regard.

Money is both literally and figuratively dirty. Germs and nastiness from touching it, and also the basis of corruption hence, "The root of all evil."

In Sweden they have chips in fingers so cards are not needed either. It’s frightening the violation of personhood that it happening. Government tracking and freezing of assets is also z bill of Right violation.

No, Governments are elected by the people supposedly to serve the people, in a free society they should have no need to be aware how much cash each person has as long as tax is paid.
