People are giving up eating out in record numbers , Netflix has introduced a $5/month option to have the service only with commercials, people are walking to work and to the store instead of driving. However , airlines report record numbers of passengers and credit card debt is nearly 1 trillion dollars, a new record. What do you refuse to give up.

I never did waste money on pay TV, gym memberships, Starbucks coffee sucks ass, you can't drink it black with no sugar. Give me a whole can of Maxwell House or Folger's coffee any day.

What I'm building is a wood gasification systems for my motorhome. So I can travel the country for free.

They can jack up the cost of shit they want. I will not give up my freedom.

On a full burn they said can get me, going by their chart. For the size and weight. I should get 350 to 480 miles. That all varies on hills, weather and so on

I saw aTV show about a locomotive. The engineer said that the train used 2 tons of coal to get this train up a mountain which was 8 miles. Then he said it takes 250-300 gallons of diesel fuel to do the same thing. I was really amazed by this.

Biggest thing for me would probably be hockey. That’s probably the last expense I’d want to cut. Also my budget for fishing, and weed to keep me from murdering people when I venture into public with these animals we call “the general public”, haha. Wouldn’t want to part with any of the three, but gun to my head, I guess I’d miss the hockey the most. Wouldn’t want to cut the gym either, but I have some weights at home that I can get by with if push came to shove. Playing sports is pretty much my reason to be alive, haha, so hockey is #1 for me.

I'm in a fortunate position where I haven't felt the impact of inflation yet (although I do need to get gas tomorrow and it's $4.37 by me and I'm not excited to see that bill), but I'm sure if things keep going the way they are it'll be unpleasant.

I'm thankful my husband and I make good money and we have no debt except the mortgage so we actually get to keep the majority of our paychecks. It'd be extra hard if our paychecks were already pre-spent to pay bills and debt because then inflation would be much more obvious.

I might be optimistic but I am rather hoping for a public outrage before having to give up anything important.

After all, the amassed wealth is outscaling inflation year by year. Realistically no one should have to give anything up.

Work in a factory at some line? Great. You are way more productive this year than 20 years ago. Of course your pay should mimic that. Individual productivity is up. Wealth is up. Earning less money in effect is nonsense.

Still, lots of people still live paycheck to paycheck. Even an extra 50 bucks can really hurt many households. My wife and I are fortunate but many people are not.

I am well aware that salaries do not really match performance or produced value. At some point we went from trying to earn money by being best at things to earning them by having the lowest costs.

I know that a lot of people earn too little. My point was simply that they should not. Every country has more wealth than 50 years ago. No reason income should be allowed to be lower.

From your list 1) I don’t have a gym membership. I generally get enough exercise from work around my farm, but if I want more I own a weight bench, treadmill, bikes, etc. 2) I don’t pay for cable TV or streaming services either. I just have large HDDs with lots of content I watch in KODI. I’ve never bought Starbucks in my life. They have shit coffee... I do generally drink coffee every morning, but it’s definitely going up in price rapidly. I generally try to get it with BOGOs and/or coupons to shave the price down. Restaurant prices are retarded right now. I’m fine with them going out of business. That’s on them, I can cook my own food if they don’t know how to charge reasonable prices. I don’t drink very often but if I want to drink I’ll buy a 12 pack of beer or a couple of bottles of wine when I want to have a drink. If prices get stupid, then I will just brew my own beer. I’ve done that plenty of times before.

Well for starters definitely my gym membership, besides having a home gym which is brand new by the way, I still enjoy going to the gym a couple of days a week.
Alcohol is another one, I enjoy a glass of red wine or a whiskey now and then.
I'm fairly frugal in other areas of my life anyway, so some of the things I like as luxuries are not exactly a stretch for me.
Because of the pandemic I haven't eaten out a huge amount over the last couple of years anyway, but again that's something that won't slip by the wayside.

I have already given up driving. I use public transport again. Dropped drinks last year. No fancy snacks. Just plain main meals. I don't have subscriptions except for mobile connections. I'm about to drop the old line. But I'm keeping my personal web domain and the internet connection.

I am good, not giving up on anything. I don't use any streaming apps, i downloaf everything for free. I can't live without drugs and insulin is free here. My gym is so cheap so it's all good. I am good
