Illegals are all over. Highest percentage of Illegals are people who came legally and overstayed their visa. But for the ones entering the country illegally, most come for work. Texas has a lot of jobs.

That said they are going to California, Florida, Arizona, and Louisiana to a lesser degree

Texas is much closer the central Mexico. Also, before someone can cross, they have to get there. Several Mexican highways run north to Texas, and there are several large border towns. The terrain, as @5carpileupalready mentioned, is much more favorable.

He said that the coyote told him and his family that if he runs in a certain direction, they best follow him or they will get caught. They were all over him like white on rice. @RolandCuthbert I watch the news everyday and I only see them coming through Texas - the Rio grande river to be exact. And other parts of Texas as well, like Laredo.
California already has too many - 41% of California is Hispanic. I never see any coming through New Mexico - not this new surge anyway.
