What do you think of the National School Boards Association drafting a letter to send in the National Guard at school board meetings?

We all remember the democrat governor saying he didn’t think parents should have a say in what their children were being taught. As a result he was voted out and a Republican voted in. I think we’re way off the rails if we need the National Guard at school board meetings. I do hope everyone is aware that Critical Race Theory is not being taught in schools and is actually a graduate school level course of sociology, but apparently, we’re not. There’s no CRT class at school, and really the only class affected is History. It’s not going to be in algebra, “X = America is a white supremacist nation”😂 And I was a History major in college, where you DO dive into that stuff more, and even there, no one instructed us to hate anything. I know many teachers, a few of them history teachers, and none of them are being instructed to teach any of this stuff. This is just a conservative talking point to rile up Republican voters because they know so many are pro-white and will flip out at any suggestion that any wrongdoing was ever done in our country’s history —which, by the way, is just teaching the facts, it’s not a concerted effort to teach anyone to hate America, it’s to better understand the problems America still has today, and how that history relates to it. That shouldn’t be upsetting for anyone unless you still are actively racist yourself and feel under fire. PLEASE don’t take the bait when someone tells you that kids are being taught to “hate America”, that’s preposterous.

I’d need to look into that more. Do you know what grade level it’s supposedly taught at? And is it statewide or just one school system? And is what they’re actually saying untrue in any way? I’m never sure if the issue is that people believe principles of CRT to be untrue or if they believe it but don’t want their kids to know about it. I also don’t know why we think kids will automatically take this supposed information they get about the ugly side of America’s past that we used to politely not talk about and run the complete opposite direction with it and land on “America sucks.” I think we should have a little more faith that they (or anyone) could hear that and just be like “Word. I’m glad I know the whole story. I’m proud of this, ashamed of that, and going forward, I’m inspired to follow what makes me proud and be better than my predecessors at what makes me ashamed.”

At an annual NEA conference last year, reps from throughout the nation admitted it was being taught and actually allocated money for teachers that might have to fight, in court, for teaching it. They also allocated money to give teachers the resources to teach it.

@Slingblade1126 do you happen to have any links to that info? I’d be interested to see what it allegedly entails. Because I would figure there’d be pictures all over the Internet from angry parents of pages from schoolbooks that specifically teach this idea, particularly in the way it’s being characterized by its detractors. But I’ve never seen anything of the sort, personally, it’s more this vague argument with no real specifics, feels very Boogeyman-ish.

@BillyBalls That feels like a very broad oversimplification, haha. I mean, there IS a problem in this country with many white people and their attitudes towards people who aren’t like them (obviously others can have bad attitudes too, but it’s different because of the power dynamic, I doesn’t carry the same societal impact), so I feel like we’re burying our heads in the sand to NOT acknowledge and address it. I don’t know, to be totally honest, the vibe I get is that white people largely don’t care about these problems and don’t want to acknowledge it and assess what role they may play in it. The whole “it just says white people are bad and black people are victims” feels like a dismissive and incorrect take from right wing detractors who simply don’t want to have the conversation.

Y'all see the video of the mom reading from a perverted book that her child was required to read in school? School board stopped her because it's was "too inappropriate". They literally said "there are children here". 🤣

I think when a lot of people talk about "the threat of civil war" or "do you really want that" it's tough to realize that the left has already set those pieces into motion. I just want to get more rural land before things get to actual fighting. light suburbs might be ok, but that's a big maybe. Cities will implode. Dense suburbs as well. It won't be like the first civil war, north vs. south, state vs. federal.

Everyone will lose when this one kicks off. Cities will starve, the countryside will lose access to technology and information. Best case scenario no outside force attacks us while we're down and we're simply knocked back to the 1970's or 1980's in terms of production, technology, and population. I wonder what will happen to the nuclear reactors. It's not like people will keep working in them for free during civil unrest and the threat of starvation.

Well the school board doesn't have the authority to deploy the national guard, and the guard itself isn't going to subdue people for protesting or otherwise speaking out at school board meetings anyway, so I'd chalk that up to yet another hysterical stunt by self-righteous losers who consider any sort of challenge to their positions as a death threat.
