The democrats would love to be able to take every gun from the citizens and leave them defenseless because it fits in with their long-term goals but the constitution allows citizens to own guns. Yes, there needs to be a better way to ensure that only sane, law-abiding people are allowed to have guns. There is also a fact, which you can look up, that most gun related violence occurs in democrat-controlled cities that have the toughest gun control in the nation! Criminals get really bold and reckless when they realize that they can do home invasions without having to worry if the homeowner has a gun to fight back. So what about Texas? Gun ownership is easy there. The transgender teenage gunman had mental health issues and was in a very small town with a obviously poorly trained law enforcement agency. They were not equipped or trained to deal with a situation like this. Also, there is an issue as to how this kid got his weapons and ammo. He had two guns with expensive mods. Where did the money come from? There is more to this story, I am sure. It was shameful at how these democrat politicians rushed to politicize this. They began their political attacks before the shooting stopped. Recently, there was another shooting in a subway in New York. All of the liberal press and the democrat politicians immediately went on the attack... until they discovered the shooter was black. They hit the brakes so hard! One frustrated reporter posted on Twitter... "... and the shooter was black! Damn... Damn.. Damn.. " They were so frustrated that they could not use this to advance their narrative. They wanted so badly for the shooter to be an unhinged white male, preferably wearing a red MAGA hat. 😂 That was their dream, anyway, and they were disappointed. The shooter in Texas was at least part Hispanic. One of the networks apparently thought he did not look white enough, so they actually used photoshop to make him look whiter. Propaganda is a scary thing...

No. He cannot pass legislation or amend the constitution on his own authority. A President’s power is mostly regulatory. They have far less authority than what people believe.

Not really. He can attempt some form of executive order, but there's a strong likelihood that anything he would actually try to push would be overturned as unconstitutional, or would otherwise be a redundant or ineffectual virtue signal. To actually amend the constitution and pass sweeping gun control legislation, an overwhelming majority support in both the house and Senate would be necessary, and the chances of that ever happening even on much less heated topics are zero.

Drafting and passing laws is the job of the legislature, jointly between the House and Senate.

NOPE! He's not dictator here. He's required to follow our laws, like them or not. Part of the reason we have an uncontrolled southern border with illegal aliens is specifically BECAUSE Biden IS NOT following our immigration laws.

Gun ownership is outlined/authorized in our Constitution. To change that requires a MAJOR issue across the entire country involving state governments AND the US Congress. I can guarantee you, as horrible as what happened yesterday, that 2nd Ammendment to the Constitution will NOT be touched.

In truth, there are nearly as many killed in Chicago (Baltimore, NYC, LA, Detroit) on a weekly basis as there was at that school yesterday, and Biden never says a word about it.

What makes you think outlawing them will solve anything? As well as the only way to defend yourself against a gun is with... A GUN!!! If good people would carry it would end a lot of these things.

The guy went into a school because he is a coward and knew the children could not defend themselves there is many times no SRO's on staff and teachers can't carry firearms.

Basically, the main function of the President isn't making laws, but protecting the country from Congress. That, and acting as a whipping boy for the press.

He can't do it by himself (thank goodness). He needs to work through Congress and there would no doubt be legal challenges to whatever sort of overreach the Democrats would come up with in Congress.

The problem is not guns themselves- it's that many criminals and some of the mentally ill have access to them.

No. The President is not a king. He cannot hand wave laws into existence. Congress and then the Senate must vote to pass the proposed law to the President. Then he can sign it into law.

However, gun laws need to be kept at the State level.

My guess is you're not from here.. No it is not his job. the president has no power to disarm us. Its a constitutional right to be able to own fire arms. An amendment would have to be drafted and approved to repeal it.. which no one would approve. it would have to be ratified by all 50 states for that to happen.. which it never would.
