To those that lost respect for the police what caused you to lose respect for them?

The inexplicable issue I see with so many people is the inability to separate people from institution. Even if we identify say an issue of corruption with a few precincts or even a district, so many people act like the entire institution is inherently evil and shouldn't exist. Which is moronic given that the police force is what society needs to keep the barrier between order and deadly chaos. Chaos which not a single soul would feel content with facing without police. And for every supposed crooked officer one might accuse there are a hundred good ones as well who put their lives on the line to serve us. So you can give anecdotal examples of corrupt cops, sorry to hear that. Doesn't in the slightest mean that we do not need police, and I can likewise provide countless anecdotes of good ones. The immense leaps in logic in coming to conclusions on the police based on possible issues with parts of the institution is so nonsensically anti-intellectual.

Getting arrested for 4 felony charges when I was asleep in a truck. Ruined my life, had to pay $5,000 for an attorney because the public defender wouldn't get any of the surveillance and wanted me to plea guilty, and as soon as my lawyer put his name on the case they dropped the charges.

-drive vehicles
-violate probation
-don’t have enough to pay rent and are evicted
-refuse to pay for child support
-refuse to show up for court

@SlightlyEccentric Netherlands type innocent, so quietly sitting on a park bench and being beaten up by undercover cops to get the protesters angry for the photo op. Or them peacefully standing on a field, and then be ordered to leave while simultaniously being surrounded so they can't.

The groups in question were protesting harsh lockdowns and did not riot, use violence or steal anything.
