How do you propose we end the employment/short staffing crisis?

1. Stop all wage garnishments2. Only take out a federal income tax and a state tax (where applicable)3. End tipped income, pay waitstaff and commissioned sales a salary like everyone else4. All employers offer 2 days off a week to employees under federal law. (you can still work overtime BY CHOICE)

Stop paying people so much to sit on their butts at home. There are currently more than 5 million unemployed people.
There is also mechanization and automation turning low paying repetitive jobs into higher paying higher skilled engineering jobs.
Beyond that employment/ staff shortage is a good thing as it drives up wages, provided your not flooding the market with low skilled labor either via trade deals with countries filled with it, or immgration that will suppress both the high skilled mechanization jobs and low skill wages.

Don’t forget that these jobs are often a side gig or intentionally part time. not taking out SS and Medicare would gut those programs. Ending tipping would actually lead to more understaffing since the tipping provides an incentive to do a good job.

Consider 4 day work weeks. Better benefits. Better working conditions. More paid time off for things like bereavement and health care. Stop the sneaky corporate bs trying to get the most bang for your buck. We also need more introvert friendly positions.

Not much that can be done. A lot of people realized they can work online and simply won’t go back to places where you need to be on a job site. Honestly I think that’s the main reason why places are understaffed

To your edit: I am a waitress and honestly wouldn’t prefer a normal wage. People that are in industries where we live off tips, we are in that industry for a reason. I know people have mixed opinions on this, but restaurants would never be able to offer the money us waitresses make through tips. I would quit my job if my job decided to pay normal wage with no tips

I'm a line cook and yes I do understand Tips do help you all. It's just I do think $2.13 is still too low

@smahala1991 I do agree it’s low but many servers at great restaurants don’t have an issue with hourly because it’s tax money anyways. I make $6.38 and it’s tax money still.

A lot of this is because I'm seeing firsthand what short staffing is doing but the other employees don't wanna get on board with a new manager we have

Management is usually garbage at restaurants because restaurants tend to not pay enough for management positions which leads to poor quality managers I so noticed. Definitely hard to be a manager at a restaurant because you are basically running the restaurant and not making restaurant owner money

Yes, but more importantly, individual businesses need to pay a lot more if they want employees. The National minimum wage will always be too low.
