u +1 yThe first issue is to define "assault weapons." The technical definition is far more limited than what the way the left uses the term. Secondly, the VP is so incompetent and I would need to be convinced to support anything she promotes.

Anonymous(36-45)+1 yThe ar15 is NOT an assault weapon. There literally is no such thing as an assault weapon. The ar15 is a rifle. The only reason idiot leftists want it banned is because of how it looks. It's so stupid.

6K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. Harris is a lapdog for those who have been trying to ban semi-automatic rifles since the 1980s. Its part of the effort to achieve globalism - technocratic-totalitarian One World Government/New World Order.
The Supreme Court said that banning non-machine guns was unconstitutional, so one of the plotters invented the term "military-style assault weapon" to fool the public into thinking that crimes were being committed with machine guns and that guns that "looked like" machine guns actually were machine guns.
The term "assault weapon" already had a definition. It referred to a military weapon that was capable of full-automatic fire - a machine gun. Machine guns are not available to the general public and have almost never been used in a crime since the 1930s.
.
But the term "military-style assault weapon" had nothing to do with functionality. Since it was a made up term, the definition could also be made up. It came to be defined by arbitrary criteria - cosmetic features like flash suppressors, barrel shrouds, ergonomic stocks with pistol grips, and composite materials instead of wood. "Look! It's black and scary looking! It must be an assault weapon (machine gun)!"
The plotters also tried and failed to ban rifles that accepted detachable magazines so had to be satisfied with efforts to limit magazine capacity.
The deliberately misleading term, "military-style assault weapon", was later conveniently abbreviated to "assault weapon", which is a misnomer. So now, common semi-automatic rifles are referred to as "assault rifles". This shit is too absurd for words. Unfortunately, it easy for people who know nothing about guns to swallow the nonsense.
When it comes to firearm-related homicides, all long guns (rifles and shotguns) combined account for around 6%. So-called assault rifles are a subset of that and are used in a max of 3% of all firearm related homicides or (+ -) 600 annual deaths. Out of a population of 330 million, 450 million people in the country at any one time, and over 80 million legal gun owners?
Regardless of the appeal to emotionalism ("the CHILDREN!") The effort to ban "assault rifles" has nothing to do with saving lives. It is about setting a legal precedent for banning certain semi-automatic firearms. The only way to pass such laws is with enough public support. That's why modern-looking rifles with their black stocks and military appearance were singled out and used to strike fear into the gullible public in order to gain support for bans. "Nobody needs an assault weapon! They are weapons of war!" Bla bla bla, etc, etc.
The push to eliminate public ownership of firearms by any means possible will never end. The people behind the effort have money and are serious. They need a disarmed American populace. This "assault rifle" thing is just a canard. If certain common firearms can be banned, it's easy to continue expanding the list to ban more and more gun types.
So I am strongly opposed to banning any semiautomatic firearms, including so-called assault weapons.20 ReplyThe problem with any ban on assault weapons, (no matter how well intentioned), is the use of 3d printers to create "ghost weapons", and possibly ammunition for the desired weapon. This terrifying scenario is most likely a reality, with access to the dark web. What needs to be done immediately, is the ability of students and staff to have access to a multiple tunnel system that each classroom would accomodate. Each classroom tunnel would end outside of school property. Once the classroom tunnel door opens, the authorities would be notified and would greet the students, and their teacher.

+1 yThough banning semi automatic weapons worked in many countries world wide I've come to the point where I'm not sure it would work in the US because it could only work if people feel sager by that.
So the whole issue seems to me surrounding the feeling of safety, not actually safety.
Like you can be actually safe looking at different parameters like metal detectors, video cameras... but feel unsafe.
That's I think is the biggest issue because people aren't safe and don't feel either.
If you want to take the guns away you have to give a valid alternative.
Instead of banning the guns I'd rather think of making it harder to get one for younger people because many shooters aren't older than 25.
If you could make it harder for them to get a weapon legally you probably would achieve something.10 ReplyNo. And th fact that these slimeballs use national tragedies as an excuse to take away people's liberties and freedoms so they can turn the US into Communist China, is EXACTLY why firearms should not be banned. Not to mention, it only takes one weapon banned before it becomes a precedent and before you know it, the entire Second Amendment is abolished and the US is ruled by Xi Jinping, like Biden's masters want.

Well we had a shooting in the US and now Canada is moving to ban the sale of handguns. The Slippery Slope isn’t just real, it’s a Natural Law.
To be perfectly honest No they should not. Reason being every single Americans right to bear arms. No teenager should be able to purchase an Assault Weapon Period until he or she is 21 or older with full valid Identification, background check and fingerprinting
10 ReplyYou actually listen to what that retard has to say? The law of the land is pretty clear:
A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.10 Reply
Anonymous(45 Plus)+1 yI'm for gun rights as much as the next guy. It's in the bill of rights. It's what this country was founded on.
BUT a little common sense goes a long way. When this was written Uncle had a musket and you had a musket. Today uncle Sam has a tomahawk cruise missle and if he wants to come into your house you really aren't stopping him. Let me add to this what is the first word in "ASSAULT RIFLE". Explain to me again how that's for defense? Are you expecting zombie hoardes? If that's your concern maybe it isn't guns you should be spending money on but rather mental health.00 Reply- 1.2K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic.
+1 yDefine assault weapon first off. Split up assault and weapon to define each word and then combine them to see that if we want to be real, anything used to attack and do harm is a fucking assault weapon, not restricted to guns.
Now, @Lliam gave a good reference and stance on how assault weapons are viewed by the public which I would agree with.00 Reply
+1 yI'd rather they ban murder weapons; they're so much more troublesome. And if they'd take down treason, fiancial malfeasance, and illegal discrimination weapons as well, we'd actually have a chance at some decent leadership. I'm not big on Leahy, but at least he's not actively undermining the country.

+1 yThe typical person has no reason for an automatic weapon, so some kind of restriction is worth considering. It's unlikely that a total ban would ever be implemented, though... too much public opinion w/r/t the 2nd Amendment.
Plus, a ban would still leave millions of weapons out there... so what would a ban accomplish?01 Reply 3.7K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. Yea I own 3 AR-15s I don’t plan on shooting anyone rabbits and squirrels only. 99.99% of all gun owners are responsible gun owners and wouldn’t shoot anyone unless they broke into there houses so no assault rifles shouldn’t be banned. It’s actually considered to be a act of Tierney to take away peoples guns because that means that we can’t fight back against the government when they become tyrannical. That really is the point of having them in the first place.

Anonymous(45 Plus)+1 yThat’s their knee jerk reaction every time there is a mass shooting no what the shooter used , as if that will stopped the mentally ill from killing people, they have banned assault weapons before in the past and it never made a difference, maybe they should study their history before making emotional decisions like a woman
10 ReplyHarris is a borderline retarded Communist, who wants to disarm the population so that they cannot resist the Marxist terror state that is the wet dream of Democrats and other useful idiots of Communism.
Such a ban would also be unconstitutional.
The meaning of “…shall not be infringed” could not be more clear.00 Reply- 6.3K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic.
+1 yTo me, an 'assault' is the opposite of 'defense'.
Knowing that there are fewer ''Rambo's'' on the streets would be a good feeling.22 Reply- +1 y
That why the media, gun control lobby and the Democrats call them “assault rifles”. If you go into a gun store and ask for an “assault rifle” they will either kick you out or refuse sale. I’ve seen it several times.

@DarkWinterNights So, an ''AK-whatsoever'' is for shooting rabbits. Got it :D
3.3K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. The lefts definition of an assault rifle could ban everything from a 22 caliber single shot rim fire up to the sky’s the limit!
Joey has said 22’s and larger!
People watch too many movies where the bad guys have fully automatic guns. That a regular person can not own. And the movie guns can shoot hundreds of rounds without reloading.00 ReplyI honestly wish people would educate themselves on what they're trying to ban.

+1 yIf u know anything about guns you’d know this doesn’t make an ounce of sense. Let me explain. An AR-15 isn’t a millitary grade weapon, it’s designed merely to look like one. There are countless other rifles that do the exact same thing that aren’t “assault weapons” the whole phrase assault weapon doesn’t actually mean anything. Unless ur gonna ban all semi automatic rifles what’s the point of banning an AR-15?
01 Reply- +1 y
More people are killed by pistols every year too by the way and criminals definitely have a preference for hand guns over rifles
+1 yNot that this would ever happen by the way, But would it only go for the civs, or would it be an outright ban?
Arms trade has too much power.
Banning doesn't solve shit, by the way.03 Reply- +1 y
@ChooChooHaha I would have to say it would ban them from average people and not the military. Good question!!
- +1 y
No. No banning.
Like I said, it doesn't work. See Russia and guns. And again, weapons trade has way too much power. - +1 y
Not to mention, how are we the people THE WORST? You know? Muh authority is the argument? No...
Why do they want us the civs to hand over our weapons? What happens after? Cause wasn't there a ban/attempted ban of purchasing body armor federally/ in a single state in the south? Why try to stop both? What's really happening?
1.8K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. Rhetoric.
It will never happen.
And she knows it so she's going for political points instead of a real solution.10 ReplyI think it's the assault peoples fault. You can't have an assault weapon without some ass doing the assaulting. Let's ban assault people...
