That erodes the tax base too much or they would have done it by now. You can’t rule an empire of corpses, plus they don’t pay taxes. They need us paying and fighting each other while thinking they have our best interests at heart so the significantly more numerous peasants don’t rise up. They dropped the hammer so hard on Bundy and the Jan 6th defendants because those actions gave the peasant tax cattle ideas, and those ideas are dangerous for bloodthirsty homicidal maniacs with a cash addiction who have produced nothing useful in generations and still want to keep their bloated egos in power. Can you imagine any of your long term career government types having to get a job and work for a living? They won’t mingle with the peasants like that or actual do useful work, governing the unwashed masses (for their benefit of course) is far more profitable and easy.

They dropped the hammer on the jan 6th defendants because they essentially committed treason and launched an insurrection against the US government, they are lucky they weren't executed. To be honest the Jan 6th defendants were set up, the federal government could have stopped it at any time well before it happened.
