Do you agree that regarding gun control, the more and more the people concede their rights the more the government will demand and take?

The suggestion that we must intimidate the government into doing what we want necissarily admits that we do not have sufficient numbers to vote for what we want. But on the other hand, the same could be said of using money to pay the government to do what we want - it necissarily admits not having sufficient numbers to vote for it.
It would thus make sense if the primary target of those with guns was the rich who buy politicians, but that is not what has happened. Instead those with guns have somehow integrated it into gun culture to be loyal to said rich people - in my day there were actual popular country songs about drilling for oil that people treated like real music!
So, that negates the only two excuses for guns that make any theoretical sense. As for personal protection, that's silly as an industry that sells both a disease and its cure is a scam. Hunting makes sense, though. Sports, sure. Military, obviously. Police, not really.
In any case, every right is really just an inherited privelege. All of them are up for grabs if we keep letting ourselves get divided over nonsense grievance culture wars while republican politicians basically take whatever they want. They don't want to give it back. So if there is a right that allows us to take it back, they will definitely convince their base that it ought to be taken away.
England banned guns, and then they essentially banned knives and even "weapons" like screwdrivers. They would ban sticks and rocks if they could. It will never be enough.
Yet there is a higher rate of violent crime in England than in the US, and that crime is much more widespread than in the US. Largely, if you avoid the gang-infested areas of big Democrat-run cities, and avoid the illegal drug trade, your chances of being a victim of violent crime in the US is extremely low. That's just not the case in the UK, far more average people are likely to be attacked
"Gun control" has always been about taking away political power, and has never been about reducing violence. The same people who try to ban guns run cities and states where violent criminals are routinely not prosecuted for their crimes and released to reoffend again and again.
I've had people who have applied for a job whose criminal record ran over 70 pages - for comparison, mine was a page and a half, and that's because it lists all known addresses where you've lived. If you don't care to prosecute repeat violent offenders and just release them instead, I certainly can't take anything you say about reducing violence seriously.
I do agree with that, not all at once. The gun control crowd will literally NEVER BE HAPPY. Even if guns are outlawed 100% they'll still be like, why are there mass shootings, we need to lock everyone up who might be a threat. Cause they might buy a gun on the black market and shoot up schools.
They have no end plan, they just want to go endlessly forever and ever.
Nah we just want what uk and those other countries have. alive kids.
@happyCynic Still be dead kids, cause the US can't stop illegal drugs, how they going to stop illegal guns? a crazy person just buy one from the cartels and go shoot up schools.
Now if the US can secure the border, stop all illegal drugs, illegal crossing and guns then yeah I'd agree but they've never been able to do that and right now I can go buy an illegal gun in about 10 minutes.
itll be the same as every other country that has gun control

The surrender of Constitutiona rights, for whatever ostensibly valid reason, is like taking a first step on a slippery slope!
It's obvious. The government benefits from the misery and insecurity affecting the people, so they can come to the rescue if they pay their taxes and follow their laws. Why the hell would the government reduce such activity that gives it so much power, influence and money?
Regarding guns, I've said it in other posts, specially from American people, and giving them the POV of someone from Brazil, a shithole country with actual gun control. Lawmakers will start going after long-barrel "assault weapons", then high-capacity mags, then any firearm, even historic slow-firing unreliable weapons. They'll use the excuse that people don't need guns because there's the police to protect them, even though it's the same police that the population complains about being unprepared, racist or whatever.
The best saying that describes the situation is something on the lines of "the government that takes away the weapons from the population wants to do something to them that they'd probably be shot over for doing."
This isn’t just regarding gun control. Have you noticed that some areas are pushing using the wrong pronouns as a hate crime, but the lamestream media spreads nothing but lies and misinformation daily? Ever stopped to look all the ways they crap on the fourteenth amendment routinely? Have you been paying attention to the erosion of the public skool systems?
Worst of all, they actually have citizens actively working against their own self interests. The US government really only needs the second amendment to be crippled before they can stop being subtle about this new world order BS.
Has anyone been paying attention to what’s going on outside of the US, excluding Russia and Ukraine? The global food supply is at serious risk. If you think things are bad now that people can’t put fuel in their cars, wait until they can’t put food in their bellies.
This☝️
I'm sure they would be tempted for it...
just like some of the Republican figures want to do so after the abortion decision
right after the Supremes said it does not correspond to the Federal level to decide for all states and all the people in the nation, some Republicans want a federal law that decides for all states and all the people in the nation and not just about abortion but other topics as well
so I am sure many Democrats would be tempted to do exactly the same, leaning to either side governing will always have these kind of temptations
Yes once you can see that the right to the federal government they will start taking more and more and more rights away it starts with the freedom to bear arms and then other rights because you don’t have the guns to defend your other right get rid of guns free-speech follows freedom religion follows and tell you end up and pretty much a dictatorship this happened in China Russia Cuba Venezuela Yugoslavia which doesn’t exist anymore Czechoslovakia which doesn’t exist anymore it’s now the Czech Republic etc
Not exactly, the guy involved in the July 4th Shooting in Chicago could have prevented as the Red Flags we're Absurdly Obvious. I'm not saying that it could of been entirely prevented, but it could of been harder for him to do it with some Reasonable Laws in place. Responsible Gun Owners shouldn't be affected, but the sad thing is some Professional Gun Humpers don't trust the democrats to do the right thing. They might of already had some laws. Was there already Red Flag Laws in Chicago? It's certainly a Sad Situation.
absolutely.
if a population shows weakness, a compromised government will see that as an opportunity to dismantle that nation's culture and install another.
Invasion through subversion.
China is probably doing it to most western nations as we speak.
Yes, because concession is a compromise between two parties. But there is no compromising with gun control lobby because they will continue trying to strip citizens of all their 2nd amendment rights. That's their entire raison d'être. It's not about saving lives.
Besides, gun control policies are not supported by facts or logic.
Don't be daft, that is not how democracies work.
Of course the USA isn't really a democracy anyway, so there is legit concern it could devolve into a demagogue republic.
But gun control means absolute jack shit, as nothing kills more Americans, than other Americans. The whole premise of "arms" in the constitution was to fend off potential invading armies. But we know the biggest invading army in the world right now is the USA.
Yes and I truly believe that our government has been helping their agenda of taking them all away by using all the brain washing techniques they have learned and acquired from the German scientists they took from Hitler in WW2. The used drugs and condoning on soldiers and can make them kill and not even remember doing it!
Definitely. Cause it’s no longer the government in a democracy the people are the government & the only way to rebuild a corrupt society is usually to destroy it all & rebuild because of corruption never has there or will be someone powerful enough to avoid an evil lure & when that is also the case he 2 has to think of the future which will double the uncertainty.
Oh, absolutely!
That's about how they work it with just about EVERY issue! And nine times out of ten, when someone says that those moves will lead to such-and-such, the comment gets pooh-poohed, but after a few years, those "far out" predictions come true.
Yes but that isn't limited to gun control, that's any policy. The beer virus was the perfect example of this where "emergency powers" in some areas have been made effectively permanent and then governments started controlling on if people could work or even travel regarding their "drug status".
I do not agree. Laws need to be updated for current times and situations. People aren't conceding rights when asking for gun control. Maniacs shouldn't easily be able to purchase guns. I personally hope for a day when all guns and weapons are seen as unnecessary. Sooner we can stop being assholes to each other we won't need them.
Absolutely. Look at what they are doing in European countries and look at how they completely disarmed Australia and then bent them over with these absurd covid regulations.
Why didn't that happen when they took the guns in Australia?
Why didn't it happen when they took the guns in England?
Why didn't it happen when they took the guns in Japan?
I'm not worried about it because it doesn't logically follow, there's no precedent for it, and I don't live in a fascist propaganda induced state of paranoia.
You make it sound like these other countries are wonderful. They are not. Most of the countries you listed barred their residents from coming out of their homes during COVID. Those governments only extend what freedom their government sees fit. These countries are free, and one could even conclude that US is getting to be less free because people like you would rather give up rights for safety.
@Qdbrown Those countries are free, representative Democracies, with individual rights and liberties. Spare me this bullshit that they're North Korea.
Australia and England took the guns around 25 years ago. So why aren't they authoritarian states With no rights or individual liberties?
@Qdbrown That's a load of bullshit. You're so full of shit.
Try some free speech and see how that goes for you.
You remind me of that Griner Basketball player jailed in Russia. Years before she only critized and protested the American Flag at the Olympics. Guess what, I bet she misses the U. S. now.
People like you assume the grass is always greener. Mainly because you believe your own BS.
A scared citizenry is a slave citizenry. If people fear their government, they will keep losing rights.
If you have to ask for permission, it's not a right.
True. That is why I don't like any of the idea of more gun control regulation. These pricks will always do what they can to exploit a change of policy to the fullest extent.
Yep. The Dobbs decision should tell you when it comes to rights, give them an inch they’ll take a mile.
I can respect your conviction and the truth of your statement about government without agreeing or disagreeing with the decision itself as that is a separate issue that has already been beaten to death.
The government wants us unarmed so we can no longer fight back once they try to take over. Any STUPID IDIOT that wants to ban guns deserves to be first in line if that day of government take-over ever comes!!
All gun control is illegal in the United States. Anyone who believes in gun control and pushes for it is a criminal. Obviously criminals always want more.

Yup
Americans are weird… We have gun control here, we still have shooting ranges and can go shoot for fun. Just no massacres… Go figure… Zero…
Thomas For centuries, including me Great Grandfather, wore his holster around our farm…. It is legal and tradition…end of Story.
Definitely! That is how we are slowly losing our rights.
Without a doubt, yes. It’s easier to take away rights incrementally.
Not just gun control--ALL of the rights. That's exactly why it's best to think twice before handing them over--you rarely get them back.
Yes, I do, the goverents great with making promises like that, there a little short on the follow through.
here's your problem. We are the govt. its not some cabal of bureaucrats. We elect the bureaucrats.
And you already let our govt say no to personal nukes.
The government will continue to further regulate until they take….
I agree, if "Guns" are outlawed... then only "Outlaws" will have guns
Once you lose a right, you must fight to regain it.
yea, that's why even moderate gun control is unacceptable
Inch by inch any excuse. These psychos who kill kids give them a reason to mees with gun rights
Just control your guns, people.
Pew.
Chck-chck.
Pew.
Nope. look at other countries. gun control is an america problem, just like circumcision
Of course that is true.
My sentiments exactly..
