Yes, you SHOULD think some things through!
If a shooter wants a gun bad enough, they're GONNA get one!! OR, these days, just PRINT ONE!
Now, what happens if everyone in the country has their guns taken away from them and some asshole gets hold of one and starts shooting up the town? What do the rest of us do, cower? Allow them to take over the entire town?
What if a foreign country decides to attack us and we have no guns to defend ourselves? They'll take us over in a heartbeat!!
What about a few years ago when some psycho opened fire in a church in Texas. How many people would he have killed if those other guys that had guns with them hadn't pulled them out and killed him?
What happens if they take all our guns away from us and then decide to really fuck us over because we have nothing to defend ourselves with? THAT'S the MAIN reason we even HAVE the 2nd Amendment!! To keep a tyrannical government from taking over the country!!
How come there were no anti-gun nuts screaming about Mr. Baldwin killing his director a year ago?
And, how come there were no anti-gun nuts screaming and yelling when Trump was shot once and targeted a second time? Oh! THAT'S right!!! Because all the anti-gun nuts are DEMOCRATS!!

Just think... if someone hears a shooting going on they could rush in and shoot the people they see shooting others. The common thought from most of the opinions. Yet when they do, someone else can run in and shoot the other person that is shooting at someone they think is the bad person. Then another can rush in and do the same. Pretty soon every gun carrying person can be shooting at everyone else. Sounds like a bad western movie. That is why not everyone should think they can protect good people if they have a weapon on them. That is why we leave that job to people who are well trained and who wear identifiable uniforms as legal peace officers.

I am willing to bet most of the people here have not served in the military, but they think they can handle a fire fight. Even the president elect who will be controlling a nuclear arsenal was a draft dodger and only marched around waving a flag at a military academy.

I oppose more firearm restrictions in the U. S. I believe in the right to own and use guns for self protection, hunting and recreation. People who don't like it should move to authoritarian nanny states (countries) if they want to feel safer. They don't deserve to live in the USA because they don't value freedom, self reliance, the Bill of Rights, or the values expressed in the Declaration of Independence. Schools are "gun free zones" (thanks George HW Bush) that's why there wasn't a good guy with a gun there to neutralize the shooter. It's because of midwits like you who would freak out over people being allowed to defend themselves.

The elephant in the room that nobody wants to address is that firearm violence breaks down neatly along racial lines. White Americans commit violence at about the same rate as you find in European countries. Hispanic Americans commit violence at about the same rate as you find in South American countries. African Americans, African countries; Asian Americans, Asian countries; etc.

The problem isn't guns. The problem is that 13% of the population are responsible for 50% of violent crime.

If I was a person looking to perpetrate an incident like this, and guns weren't available, there are still a number of readily available methods to accomplish that goal.

Have we forgotten the Boston Marathon already? How about several instances of people plowing a big SUV into a crowd of children? They are several others, but I'm not interested in giving anyone ideas.

A gun is just a tool, and there are other tools in the toolbox. But guns are the only TOOL that ever gets blamed - in any other situation, the person committing the crime is blamed. No one talked about banning pressure cookers after Boston, or SUVs after the incidents that happened, because those aren't political. And because they are political, you have to look deeper into the motivation for treating these tools differently from all others.

Yes I know that was one off terrorism incident (and you ARE a terrorist if you kill someone over political reasons). Yes it’s wasn’t a school shooting but still there was absolutely nothing said about gun control by the mass media and gun control advocates.

Also funny how the shooter 3D printed a ghost gun even though he could have legally bought a handgun if he wanted to.

But criminals don’t need to follow the law if they want to get a gun. They will either get one on the black market or 3D print one.

Tyrannical governments and dictatorships ban public ownership of weapons which is what the deep state in the US are trying to do with mind control amongst other things. How about the fact that the middle class in the US has slowly been erradicated since the 1980's making the poverty level alarming where over 40 million Americans live off food stamps. This group of people don't live any better than the poorest of African countries. The government keeps pumping American tax dollars into certain friendly nations and wars and depriving American citizens of fundamental rights. Maybe people have lost their minds? It all goes back to the mentality of the people and the people have been mentally squeezed in the past few decades. In Switzerland all households of citizens are required to have firearms yet there is very little gun crime. I think USA needs a factory reset back to 1776 before it was corrupted from within.

There are over 80,000 gun laws and regulations on the books now -- what more do you want that's not already there?

When my grandfather went to school they used to take their guns to school on the school bus, keep them in their lockers, and go hunting after school. When they were old enough to drive they kept their guns in the back windows of their cars in the student parking lot. No one ever got shot, anywhere in the U. S.

It's not the guns, it's the people. Mental illness, isolation, rejection, loneliness, anger, revenge. Single-parent homes, usually the father figure gone. No religion growing up. No morals or ethics or standards. Thousands of reasons our society is different today than back then.

The criminals will always, always be able to get guns, no matter what you do. And now with 3D printers, it's easier than ever for them to go around whatever laws you want to pass.

First off, many of these mass shootings happen in states that have restrictive laws already for people to legally own, carry, use a firearm. In states that are more in line of the US Constitution, there have been armed bystanders stepping in to end crap like this but you will never hear of it through the media since it doesn't play into their agendas.

I remember a tale of two cities a few decades ago, one found a way to more or less ban firearms and within two years crimes grew over 400%, if memory serves. The other city enacted an ordinance that every head of household had to own, and be proficient with, a firearm. There crime dropped 60% over two years.

That goes along with a phrase the late author Robert A. Heinlein gave to one of his characters "An armed society is a polite society."
