It’s a 14 year jail term in Nigeria if you have an abortion. Before I used to think it’s wrong awful. But now I understand that except you’re in that person’s shoes you’d never understand that. My roommate and I had an argument and I said I believed it should be legal to abort because there’s no point. People are dying doing it in the black market. You’re trying to save a life but you’re losing two in the process. And her dad is super strict so I told her how she’d feel if she was pregnant. I completely understand that actions have consequences and people should bear the consequences for their actions. But in cases like rape victims how does that apply and you can’t just say only rape victims can abort it should be a right. I don’t approve of it being used as opposed to contraceptive. Maybe if there was a restriction on the amount of times you could abort or something. But then society keeps saying no to abortion but they keep judging teen parents and aren’t ready to help them financially. A lot of time parents chase their children away and they can’t afford to pay to keep the babies. Last year one 17 year old who was pregnant and wanted to abort her baby lived with us because she couldn’t face her parents and ran away from home. And met my mom at church. From talking to her and understanding how she feels. The states she gets when she’s walking the street. Having to drop out of school. No teenager should ever experience this. Since there are no supports for them might as well legalize it. I honestly know in my heart. If I was pregnant I’d do every single thing in my power to get rid of it because I’m not ready to be a mum and my parents won’t be supportive. And I’m not ready to take care of a child or the entire 9 months. No one deserves to be forced to go through motherhood just like no baby deserves to be brought into poverty and hate.
