It's being directed as a self-proclaimed "ready for TV" stage performance by the same guy who buried the Epstein case, the commission itself is staffed entirely by democrats and two RINOs, and furthermore this body has no actual judicial authority; so of course it's nothing more than a political stunt at face value. That said, even NPR has admitted that no new evidence has been submitted, and that instead they're just shifting/rewording accusations. In other words, it's a desperate ploy to distract people from the current administration's abysmal performance as election season comes up in just a few months.
And while I'm all for heavy-handed punishment of criminals, I'm really not interested in the viewpoint of the people who cooperatively and very bluntly incited nationwide riots and even actual secessionist movements to the tune of dozens dead, thousands hospitalized, $2B of private property damage and dozens of government buildings burned or bombed, then bails them out of jail and pretends like a few broken windows, a stolen lectern and debatable trespassing charges in one specific location is somehow worse, and now more recently ignoring an actual assassination attempt of a supreme court justice. If that's really the baseline we are going to establish, then I expect the immediate incarceration of a minimum of approximately 15,000,0000 protestors and virtually all recognizable politicians and media workers. As a start. Then we can get into AOC and her gang of imbeciles who stormed the capitol during the Kavanaugh hearings, which unlike the former president, she very directly took part in, and she wasn't alone.

I'm sure a lot of things will be made up, but I willm admit what aI saw tonight was a bit disturbing. Though I really think everyone should watch for themselves and come up with their own conclusions.
I am very neural and against all sides of our corrupted government! BUT this is absolutely disgusting and, in your face, wrong! We should be ashamed of how this is being shown and is exactly how our judicial system works!
How is it wrong? There was a massive coordinated attack on US democracy and the committee has been gathering evidence about it. The committee does not have the power to indict anyone, but they can and should show their findings.
They said some truthful things I mean words like "Americans" and "Democracy". But I did miss some of it due to bathroom break. Did they saw anyone in half? Or pull a rabbit out of a hat? I mean cause otherwise it was a pretty boring show they put on. 😴
Jan 6th came closer to taking over the country than the Japanese ever did. It was an attack by domestic enemies of the country. Both of those things are important.

Exactly, the Japanese weren't an existential threat to American democracy. Trump's cronies came ridiculously close to taking over the country. Not just the rioters, but the months of misinformation and planning that went into the attempted coup, the fake slates of electors, the traitors in congress who were willing to vote for Trump knowing he'd lost the election. Trump not being willing to call of the riot when everyone knew he was the only one with a chance of doing it.
@goaded It was a couple of hundred demonstrators. A few broken windows and one guy put his feet up on pelosi's desk. An unarmed civilian was shot in the neck for tresspassing.
You know that's not true. You know (or should do) that the aim was to delay the count until midnight, to give Republicans a chance to steal the presidency.
Why do you think that wasn't the aim? They had to delay or disrupt the count in order to force the decision to a vote consisting of 2 votes per state instead of actually counting genuine electoral votes. Hanging Mike Pence or getting him away from the Capitol until after midnight would also have worked as well as occupying it. (Mike Pence on Jan 6th: "I'm not getting in that car".)
The frivolous lawsuits hadn't worked (and that was the last of the legal options). The fake slates of electors forging official documents and Republican legislators lined up to break their oaths of office and lie about valid elections in multiple states couldn't work without Pence's cooperation. The only remaining option was violence.
And there was violence. It was pre-planned, and it almost worked.
Watch the hearing, it was only a couple of hours long.
It was the biggest riot in the history of mankind. It was the biggest attack on our democracy, even bigger then the attack on Pearl Harbor. More police were killed then than in the whole summer of 2020.
