You'd probably have to be tight on a lot of other things. In most months, you either get paid twice if it's every other week, or four times if it's weekly. If you work a full 40 hours, that's $2,160 per month before taxes. Various taxes would probably leave you with around 1,800. 800 for rent leaves you with 1,000 to spend on cell phone, cable/internet/streaming whatever, gas, groceries, electric bill, etc. So, I'd say if you don't get overtime, that's going to be tough.

No, not really... it's not going to be a very comfortable living, if you want to do anything besides work. You can do it if you're willing to work 2 or more jobs or get a roommate. You could just barely do it on your own, working a 60 hour week. You're basically guaranteed to hate your life at that point.

$13.50/hr times 60 hours per week is about $570 per week after tax. The instant you have to pay for anything beyond your most basic utilities, you're eating beans and rice.

Guess it depends where you live. Aaand if rent is every two weeks or a month.
Currently about to work for people at $14 on the weekend to stay with someone for like two months. So it's all in the math of things if one can afford it.

after taxes that is about $ 10.00 / hour * 40 hours = $400 per week x 4 weeks = $ 1600 per month so rent is 50% of your takehome pay. That is a high percentage of your money to spend on rent but might be worth it to not live in a shithole.

That’s a little steep for that wage. If you get a bunch of overtime and don’t have the expense of a car go for it. You can find private rooms for like 650 a month that are pretty decent.

Is it monthly or weekly rent?

It depends on how often rent is due, how many hours you work, how much your bills are gonna cost, how many people you’ll be housing, pets, etc

So for weekly rent:

$13.50 x 30 hours a week is $405. You have to be able to afford food, bills (water, gas, electricity, internet, phone bill, insurance, car loan, etc), furniture, clothes and all basic necessities.

$405 is not going to cut it - if you did 50 hours a week that’s not going to cut it.

Now monthly:

$405 x 4 is $1620. You take $800 out of that for monthly rent and you only have $820. Depending on where you live, the average monthly bills are well over $1,000.

You have no chance of affording an $800 rental home.

But here are you options:

You can house share and have people living with you who split the rent.

You can look for a much cheaper rental (still iffy).

You can find a new job that pays more money.

Or if you’re still at home, just stay at home until you’ve got a good enough job and can afford to move out.
