The average for a studio/one-bedroom apartment in North America is $400 to $700 a month. Anything $900 or more is too high.
I lived in a sh*thole like Philadelphia and living near downtown (Spring Garden neighborhood), I had a four bedroom apartment which was $1400 a month. Meaning, with roommates, I paid $350 a month to live near downtown. Granted, the neighborhood was kinda sh*t and basically Chinatown, but still. If you want to live in a sh*thole like Philly, there's plenty of places you get can rent for $400-$500 a month.00 Reply

Its like a house with 6 rooms on 3rd floor, 8 rooms on 2nd floor and the lanlord or owner of the house live on the ground floor or 1st floor..
We usually pay around 205 bucks for 6 months..
With full facilities each floor..
- 1 wifi for 2 floor good speed too.. so one wifi is for 14 people, all girls age between 17-23yo
- 2 bathroom each floor
- 1 kitchen on 3rd floor and 2 kitchen on 2nd floor (including fridge, gas stove, kitchen sink)
- 1 liv room on 3rd floor and 2 liv room on 2nd floor (only tv and rug, no couch cuz we usually sittin on the rug)
- 1 rooftop each floor for hanging the laundries
- 2 garage for our vehicles
- cute owner cats for bonus
- very kind lanlord, she's a nana we love her00 Reply
Anonymous(25-29)+1 yI make $1200/month
I pay $500/month in taxes (car ins./health ins./phone/etc.)
Take away about $100 for gas and groceries
That leaves $600/month.
I could probably get an apartment for $500/month, but what about emergency savings? College tuition? Debts? Pets? Family?00 Reply

But it appears that from the price you're at the low end in average.

In the U. S., Zillow has a map that can show you rent-prices for various places.
https://www.zillow.com/homes/for_rent/10 ReplyIn my country, $200 per week could probably get you a nice spacious room in a flat. If you want a one bedroom private place it is usually from $300 and something to $400 and something per week. If you want a house with multiple rooms it would be $500 upwards.

+1 yNo, that's very reasonable. Last time I was able to rent a place for that amount was 20 years ago. Now, rents start at $1200 a month for a studio, one bedrooms are $1600 and up, two bedrooms are $2000 and up.
You might be able to rent a room in someone's home for $800.10 Reply - 3.5K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic.
+1 yDepends on the size of apartment/flat/house/... whatever you are renting.
You have to calculate the price per square meter/feet/inch/... and compare it online to the avarage price per square meter/feet/inch.
Also you need to inquire wether the rent is including price for stuff like electricity/water/heating/... and what other extras are included/excluded, eg wether there is a parking lot included, or if you got a cellar storage unit, ...01 Reply- +1 y
For example, we pay 625€ for 60m², and lectricity/water/heating is all included, but we don't have any storage units, neither in the cellar nor under the roof.
A several hundred foot studio apartment goes for like $2,200 around here in an older building. A 1-2 bedroom runs $3,500-$4,500. A 2000 square foot town home rental might run you $9,000... I'd say $800 is relatively affordable when compared to Florida. You could manage that sort of rent on $28K a year...$15 minimum wage is a salary of $30K. So unless you're working part time, you should be able to manage it.
00 ReplyWhere I live, a one bedroom is easily $1500. $800 a month seems cheap to me. What's included?
Also, you want to make sure the apartment is clean (no rodents, bugs, mold, etc.). Sometimes super cheap apartments are cheap for a reason...20 Reply
+1 y$800 will get you a small room that you share a kitchen, bathroom, living room, laundry with other person (S) who have their own room.. Who knows of their living habits or manners and what you’re not and allowed to do.
$800 is $800, depends when you get.00 ReplyDepends on the type of unit you have.
The quality of life there.
And what is in your surrounding area.
Does that 800 include water and electric?
For 800. Ask yourself this, does it have:
Laundromat
Work out room
Good neighbors
Is it upscale looking
Are there near by restaurants (less than 10 miles)
Any grocery stores near by (less than 10 miles)
Covered parking

+1 yIt depends entirely on where you live. Where I live that would be high rent even in a nice suburb. In other places it would be low in a crappy part of town.
You just have to compare to other prices around where you live.00 Reply Totally depends on the location and space that money will get you, but $800/mo for a 1 bedroom used to be the standard mid-range rent in almost any city. Now days that mid range is closer to $1200

+1 yDepends on what you get for the money.
In the midwest, figure at least twice that for a small house, or a 2-3 BR apartment.
In CA or NY, $800 a month might get you a car space.00 Reply 18.6K opinions shared on Society & Politics topic. Depends. When i was renting, it was $100 per 100 square feet. So if the place is nice and large in a good oart of town, it could be quite the bargain.
If ain't got toilets, its a bad investment.00 Reply- 310 opinions shared on Society & Politics topic.
