If your rent was a reasonable price would you renew your lease or move? Right now apartment prices have skyrocketed?

So within the next 6-7 years the housing market is going to crash and homes will be dirt cheap. There's also a chance that our currency will change to something else. Move somewhere that is safe and reasonably affordable to rent and do 1 year leases and keep your eyes on the housing market. Pounce once you see a deal you can make a return on but not before. Housing where I am is like 750k-1.2 mil. It's insane right now and these homes are not worth near that much. If I could convince my girlfriend that leave Cali for a northern state for a bigger, better home I would. How opened are you to leaving your state? How much flexibility do you have in your career path?
Depends on your goals. You trying to save or trying to impress? Locations big too my current apartment is a block away from multiple bars. Its a good time.
Goal is to save!
Renewing is cheaper, but if you move it will be insane. I would set yourself up for getting a house. It almost a costs the same. My house payment is cheaper then the rent I was paying now
Right so I'll just stick to the apartment until i find a house that I want
It is a sellers market right now. Need things to change back to a sellers market
Buyers market
I bought a house because at the time the mortgage payments were less than my rent payments.

As for me before I bought a house I rented apartments over the years & each as well as every year I would receive a renewal rate quote in the mail & after I did I would walk down to the leasing office & negotiate another rate or should I say lower rate.
As for me I say communication is the key & when it comes to negotiations you have a 50/50 shot this will work out in your favor.
As for you I want you to do what I taught my sister to do & each as well as every year she saves money. As for you I want you to go down to your leasing office & simply & nicely talk to them. Tell them you recently received a renewal lease & you were wondering OUT OF THE KINDNESS OF THIER HEARTS if they could give you a lower rate. Tell them you always pay your rent on time & you are a good tenant & you would really like to continue to live in a wonderful place such as this.
Stay where you are at for the time being because if you move factor in moving expenses & just the hassle of packing up all your things. On the other hand if you find a place closer to work that is cheaper go for that deal.
Trust me & go talk to your leasing office.
Fixed rate with an annual lease? or Variable?
Stay, Save your money and trust that the housing market is due for a crash next year or two... wait until then and BUY, long term renting is terrible in most cases.
My lease is up next month but I haven't got a notice about renewing it yet. I notice the available apartments of my type are now going for about 500 more a month than I'm paying. Not sure what the renewal offer will be.
If the new apartment rate looks good I would get my hands on it but also look for something that has things included
My rent is reasonable (for the location). That’s the only reason I’m still here, hate this place
Sames here
We don't have a "lease", we pay a monthly rent. And it's in a retirement community that has lower-than-average rental rates.
my last apartment was 1550 then they tried to raise it to 1750 if it got renewed and a month to month would of been 2150 and when i didn't renew or do month to month they jacked up the rent to 1850 to 3100 for the new tenant (2 bedroom)
Nice humble brag about the cheap rent! 🤣 There's literally no reason for you to move in that situation though.
🤣🤣hahaha yeah , I love that the rent is cheap. Same time I like change. But I save more here
I mean, I guess it depends what makes you happy. If you know you'd be happier somewhere else, then of course go for it. But at the same time, I try to suggest people to get somewhere they know they can handle, and have extra. If you move to a different place, will it kill your extra savings each month?
I much prefer to live somewhere cheaper, and be able to save up money to go on trips and experience life. You can save up a fortune by living cheap. I call it "establishing my base of operations". lmao.
Live cheaper, save up, then someday you'll magically have a buttload of money that you didn't spend paying that extra rent. But if you're really unhappy where you're at, that's something to consider.
I'd be unhappy if my savings went down so I'm staying here lol
I could get a better place for less, but moving is such a fucking pain, no thanks.
I would stay in the apartment.
