Do you think a 1400$ apartment is too much for a person making 17$ an hour and working 40 hours weekly?

You should be able to pull it off if you are careful with all your other expenses. I'd look for something cheaper though. I've paid that percentage of my pay for rent before. It was tight but I managed.

That would be a very high rent where I live. There are apartments that high, but there are also still some under $500 a month in OK neighborhoods. I think a spartan apartment but in a nice suburb start around $700.

That's just about half of that person's monthly income. And that's before taxes, insurance, and overtime.

Unless that person is very good with money and has few, if any other expenses, yes, that is entirely too much.

Every time I see an apartment over 1000 I think it’s crazy 😩 We’re renting a very large home + 10 acres of land for only $1000 so I can’t imagine an apartment costing more then that?

Enjoy it. Down the street from here is a two-bedroom, about 800 sq ft, with one off street parking space (street parking here is a nightmare, especially in the summer) for the low, low price or $3950/month.

Yes. I've seen rooms for $1,200. The room with a roommate. WITH A FUNKIN' ROOMMATE. i can only imagine how much it is without a roommate.

In my eyes, it's not. I, personally, wouldn't pay $1,200 for a apartment/room unless there is massaging, offical butt smackers and kissers (first one literal, second one metaphorically) and anti-thief guards of my room. And if not, all i need is a room, electricity, and water. Anything else isn't necessary

That’s all most half of your salary but in the end life is too short.

do what makes you feel happy, money would never stay with you.

no matter how much you you collect inflation would make it less.

Remember all the additional costs like electricity, water, phone, cable, insurance, gas, food, household supplies, etc. It adds up.

Find something that’s 30% of your monthly income, ideally less, but never more than 30%.

Try living in Miami the average apartment is $2000 a month and that doesn’t include anything else you have to do first second and last for rent up front

Thats half your salary in rent. I think its fine as long as its under half and the other costs are doable.

Then seems like you're alright. Now obvs this doesn't paint a complete picture. For eg, we don't know what the per capita income of the city town or village you are in. We don't know the inflation index. If you have any dependents. I understand you asked the questions, its a lot more easier to work with if there is a bit more material for a clearer picture to work with.

That is more than 1/3 of your gross. The people who manage my properties would want a cosigner.
