If those rumors are true, then yes, they are. Sexism, too. Unfortunately, United Steelworkers vs Weber already set the precedent that such hiscrimination is A-okay if done in the tame of "helping disadvantaged groups".

Here's a politically incorrect question: why do you suppose so many of our culture's great scholars, scientists and cultural icons are Jewish? Well, it's partly because that culture encourages learning and education, but it's also because people keep trying to kill them. When a pogrom starts against your ethnicity, who survives? The strong, the smart, and the rich. When a dozen pogroms go by, who else is going to be left? Raise the selection pressure and you raise the level of survival traits in the population; it's basic Darwinism.

So not only do these policies pinish success, they ensire the "disadvantaged" will remain so, by removing the reason to improve. And so you wind up with genetic stratification of society, creating a racial underclass in the name of fighting racism.

Yes they are. It's a disservice to even those who they're supposedly helping too, because you really really don't want to be in a situation where you're studying something that's over your head only to load up on debt and fail out.

It's even more damaging if you pass due to preferential treatment go out into the world and start making costly mistakes.

Should have just been left metrit based. It's an insulating policy towards the demographics they say need help, and the people they end up excluding. It tarnishes the reputation of the institution.

Yes, and they aren't the only ones. Asians and Whites are discriminated against for college entrance, exclusive free college scholarships, jobs, and promotions. It is nothing new.
Black people and women get preferential treatment. It is policy and law.

Yes they’ve been doing this for about 25 years. I can’t remember the court case that approved this type of discrimination but the judge in the discussion did say it should last no more then 25 years it’s been 25 years time to get race based admissions and focus on merit based emissions.

Harvard will never accept those numbers. It’s Optics. Top 5% of GRE (s) go to Harvard, Stanford, and MIT. The only exception is Last Name Alumni or Generational Donors.

GRE is entirely different from SAT and these are not even remotely comparable.

If one does SAT, you’re applying to undergrad programs. You’ll just be a student, where they can absolutely accept people of lower academic pedigree for other qualitative goals.

If one does GRE, you’re applying to either selective MS, MA or PhD programs (and at these universities, usually PhD). With PhD, the academic level of the applicant is of immense importance because the university pours immense resources in every admitted person and they also are an important source of the university’s reputation.

Lower median SAT scores do not in and of itself prove racial discrimination beyond any reasonable doubt, because institutions like these have moved like a decade ago to many more qualitative and subjective assessments alongside the academic performance.


Are they practicing it? Possibly. But lower median SAT scores in itself don’t prove it.

Because a black with the highest SAT will be higher than the Asian with the lowest SAT score, SAT score does not prove race for a single individual but is absolute proof when grouped by race because knowing only their average SAT scores, you can with certainly predict their race. Just as you cannot predict if a 2 star or 5 star will play in the NFL but you can be certain at a group 5 star players are better than 2 star players because 56% of 5 star players make it to the NFL but only 1% of 2 star players make it to the NFL.
