We could totally feed the world with how much excess the globe produces. In fact we already kinda do. Except there's pressure to not give out free excess food because... well...
The economy.
Economics isn't an exact science. We can model and predict but we won't know with confidence how ending world hunger could effect the economy, especially the lifestyles of those who control wealth.
In terms of agriculture, we are living in a post-scarcity economy. It's not a problem of production but distribution. Fortunately in recent years we've seen countries with excess reach out to those suffering famines, although for a price ie attempt to capture underdeveloped countries in debt.
A country can get loans and grants from the World Bank, but they have to become a open market in return. This is great for their economy at first but are often easily taken over by global cooperate interests. If you're a country with a profitable resource like oil or minerals for computers, forget it, ur becoming a vassal for apple or something.
Anywho that's my little wordy ted talk on how I see things. :p
i think the money people give towards these poor chderen the goverment domt give it to then to ger vlean wster better lives great food to each most of all homes those poor kids all over the world people should be thankfull for what theyve got I've always wanted to do stuff like that nd wpuld help a dont steel money from kids who need it most all those asverts aswel ide tlove to call up and put money towards it but dveryone said no domt its a scam a rip off the goverment keep it for them selves it doesn't go to them i would love helping those kids they have nothing nd money means nothing more than life does
Not inherently, although most of us are chained to the money in order to not starve. I don't want to starve, so that's why I make my money.
One thing capitalism makes kind of sure is that those, who don't work can't afford to eat... which is circumvented by the welfare systems in the first world countries. In 3. rd world countries there is no shielding from the threat of starvation.
Oh and then there are those slaves in Africa, who bust their behinds for pennies, so that we can enjoy our gadgets daily. Sucks to be them. Well known businesses like Apple inc take advantage of these slaves.
Absolutely. There is no reason why some of the best farmland on the planet (tropical regions of Africa and South America) are also the most malnourished. The world bank, the Bank of England, the IMF, the central bank of China, and some corporations that are big enough to be governments are keeping those regions poor by artificially depressing wages and the price of agricultural products. The warlords who rule them as the de facto governments on the ground are misusing the aid money that they aren’t laundering for foreign, mostly British and American, politicians.
Thanks for MHO

99% of the time, no.
The civil war in Ethiopia is a rare case of the opposite, where the authorities tried to starve the ethnic group making up the majority of the opposition...
But to be fair, in civil wars a big part of the funding of all sides is essentially road tolls, a form of land based piracy found in pretty much all civil wars out there, and more in important for the funding of such wars then even drug trade...
Ask the Slavs who lived during the Cold War, North Koreans, or most people living in African dictatorships.
The answer is a deafening yes.
The inverse can also be true, as "English European" points out with the Romans. Generally, showering the people with gifts, or the belief that they're receiving gifts keeps people more content, while abusive governments are likely to suffer revolts eventually.
Gotta say no, they are so corrupt they wouldn't even take part in people that are actually suffering which hurts to see, but they do do other corrupt shit sad to say but just the world we live in
Considering Western governments stole and stripped their countries to cause all that, and has done little to compensate. It's no wonder BLM and others are having a field day.
True the threat for governments usually comes from wealthy people
Not all of times but mostly corruption too
Not so much, I think they care very little about certain demographics of their populations, so if for any reason food could be scarce, they will select who gets food, and who starves to death, I think the Russians and Chinese have both done this.
No. Governments care about political power and people in politics never suffer hunger.
i like this view on world hunger XD
https://www.youtube.com/embed/P0q4o58pKwAMaybe some do, but I don't consider it's typical. A well-fed population is generally easier to control than one that is starving. Julius Caesar famously provided the Romans with bread and circuses.
In the more tribal places, the ruling powers (I'm hesitant to call them governments)* absolutely use food as a weapon.
Yes, just look at what's happening in the USA. Beginnings of food shortages. Baby formula
Yup... I do. LETS GO BRANDON!!!
Let’s go Brandon.
@EarthRealm yup!!! FJB
Yeah I think they can and would
No there just poor and have to many kids
Ever heard about the irish potato famine?
Because the can, its a weapon and they use it
It wouldn’t be a weapon if there wasn’t jail prison guns and other Shit.
People could steal and only thing they’d have to manage is a physical fight which can easily be won by having the physical strength
Government don't care anymore
The government cares a lot
Just not about the people.
Yeah. Communist tactics.
Among 100 other things
No but warlords sure do.
They probably can but I don’t think they care
why did you have use black people as pictures?
