The wage gap definitely exists, but there are valid reasons for it that are driven by the different choices men and women make. That has been obvious to me as a girl who watched my friends, male and female, go through high school and then choose college majors. Plenty of my female friends chose majors that would lead to high earning careers, but not nearly as many as my male friends did.

So why do more of us girls not choose high earning career paths? Because we don't have to. That's really the bottom line. Our priorities are different. We make our choices and we get what we get.

There needs to be those low income workers who do the task that needs to be done to keep the country running and your income is based on how replaceable you are or what that country feels that job is wort.
