1) Defrauded $250 mil from people with fake “defense fund”. People go to jail for this.
2) Stole money from his campaign’s inauguration fund.
3) Told his cronies “Just keep saying election is a fraud.” After being told it isn’t a fraud. Prosecutors say this proves intent.
I honestly don’t know how any Republican is still riding with this guy, other than stubbornness to admit when you’ve gotten got and/or thinking you have to in the name of saving face for the party. These aren’t people who are going to just recklessly lie, certainly not under these circumstances. Meanwhile Trump’s guy Eastman plead the 5th like 100 times in his deposition, something Trump himself has said in the past “only The Mob does.” Are we really going with “Trump, Giuliani, and maybe the MyPillow Guy are the lone bastions of truth!”? SHOULD Trump be prosecuted for being a thief? - Yes, probably. It is quite obvious to me that before (and probably after, as well) Trump was President, he was an organized crimelord. As for when he was actually in office? Eh... I always got the distinct vibe that Trump was genuinely there to help.
CAN Trump be prosecuted as a thief? - Realistically, probably not. Trump is a lot of things, but stupid isn't one of them.
Trump may not have much but he has money. He's an American oligarch and he's not gonna get punished like any of us would. He's been involved in numerous frauds before his campaign and he got away with them cus he could hire lawyers in insane quantity. He'll get away with this the same way.
