Why did they legalized euthanasia?

Everyone's life is precious and no one should be allowed to take their own life. They need to stay alive and wait till their lives improve. It is not right or ethical for a doctor to give up on someone.

I don't see euthanasia as a murder. Of course it's wrong to kill someone who wants to live. But just imagine someone who has a incurable disease that makes them suffer with pain? Something that makes them no longer able to enjoy life?
Imagine their family members and friends seeing them suffer for years? Is it fair to let the person suffer? I don't think it is.
The person knows what they're going through, what they're feeling but we don't. So who am I to tell that a sick human being should stay alive even if they're constantly in pain and suffering? I have no right to tell them that. So if the person wants to end their suffering and the family agrees with it (despite all the sadness and sorrow that this decision causes) they have the right of choosing to die with dignity.
I also think that doctors who "practice" euthanasia shouldn't be punished.

It's ok if you have a different point of view but this what I believe in.

Because people with crippling disabilities don’t deserve to be subjected to a life full of pain and misery and they should have the choice to end it on their terms.

Okay maybe when they are in pain. But mental illness they shouldn't get it.

They’d end up killing them selves other ways anyway. So what difference does it make?

They feel like that because they don't take their medications. They need to be treated by a doctor and kept in a hospital if they feel like hurting themselves.

That's why we need to bring back the asylum to keep them safe. Shorten the amount of time a person is kept in the hospitals to two weeks. So they don't get enough time in there for them to get better. We need to keep them in there longer until they improve.

In the hospital they don't do that anymore. They wear normal clothes and talk to people.

Not always. In some countries they’re still treated poorly. I was suicidal. I got passed on from therapist to therapist, none of them stuck with me.

I appreciate that and I’m glad I was able to get through it but not everyone has the support system they need unfortunately

It's like people eat nothing but fast food and don't take care of their bodies. They think "it's my body my choice" and then when their body is destroyed and they can't work anymore the tax payers are going to have to pay for their disability checks and homeless people that need or mentally ill people that need it can't get it. What you do effects everyone around. What you do isn't derisory. The kids need you to teach them. Your co workers need you to support. People need each other.

Well people around you, love you. Even if you don't have anything people around need you to be alive. Everyone has their part to play in life including you. Your life isn't meaningless. If you disappear one day it can break the people's hearts around you.

There seems to be some confusion in the original question. The OP makes it sound like the doctor is giving up and decides to euthanize the patient. That's not the case. They also assume if you don't give up, you will improve. Again, that is not typically the case. Euthanasia it's an option for those with no hope of a physical recovery. A person with a mentally diminished state would not be classified as being capable to make that decision.
