Have you been following the Jan 6th hearings? I mean, I'd expect the fact that Trump knew the crowd was armed (with everything from spikes on flagpoles to make them into spears or lances, to AR--15s) before he sent them to the Capitol to illegally disrupt the count as had been planned for a while would show they were right to impeach and the 43 Republicans who voted to acquit were plain wrong.

@goaded, The problem with the hearings are they all hate Trump so badly they are willing to bring anyone in as long as they have something bad to say about him. Almost none of what Ms Hutchins said yesterday sounded believable. Spears? Lol what? If there were that many people armed why haven’t there been any weapons charges? How would that many people have concealed such large firearms from everyone? It sounds like something Hollywood would write in a movie about January 6th.

I watched a video just the other day of someone showing off the spike on the end of his flagpole Jan 6th. So, yes, spears.

There have been over 70 people charged with weapons offenses, including several with firearms, and you have to bear in mind that the police were busy that day trying to hold back a mob.

Yeah, but hang on, (I may not be following the hearings, or have the in-depth knowledge that you have) but I do remember some time last year reading sone of the charges… and anyone with so much as a walking stick, cane, or even crutches were charged with carrying weapons… as for the claim of AR-15s, you are gonna have to show me a source on that one, because those weapons or any firearms are illegal to be open carried in Washington DC.! But now that I’ve answered this, I’m realizing why I am glad that I’m not watching the hearings. That other guy was right… everyone on the commission HATES Trump! Even the measly 2 Republicans on the commission, both voted to impeach then President Trump. In fact Pelosi (who hands out committee assignments) wouldn’t allow any Republicans on the commission who did NOT vote to impeach! So it doesn’t seem fair. Imagine you being arrested for a minor crime, and you were facing 1yr in prison if you loose. Your lawyer tells you “it’s a slam dunk! The constitution protects your right to do (whatever it is that you did) then you see the jury, are all people who not only know you, but they ALL hate you! There’s ex-girlfriend’s, a teacher from high school who hated you, even some former landlords who you still technically owe money too are there! You’re fucked!
So I’m not sure how much I trust the hearings! As a former Democrat (now a registered Independent, but still a very classical liberal) I am very concerned about the obsession those in the Democratic Party have towards former President Trump. They truly hate him! So, maybe they are not the best ones to have judged him! But he’s so polarizing, that people either love him, or hate him… I don’t think I’ve ever heard anyone say “what President Trump? I don’t know, I guess I don’t care, I could take him or leave him… I’m basically ambivalent when it comes to Trump”!

You can search for weapon or firearm, pistol, etc. There are five cases of people carrying pistols illegally (one of whom had a stash of molotov cocktails in his truck), although the AR-15 seems to have slipped through the net. Do you really think that there weren't more firearms there, considering the police were vastly outnumbered and couldn't possible check everyone?

Yes, some people with walking sticks, etc. were charged with weapons violations, but only if they were using them as weapons against the police. If I hit someone with a toilet seat, that would reasonably count as "engaging in physical violence... with a deadly or dangerous weapon".



I don't understand why you think the feelings of the committee members are important in the investigation. Police don't investigate people they think are innocent, they investigate people they think are guilty of crimes. It's increasinly clear that Trump is guilty of attempting to steal the presidency from the winner of the 2020 election in multiple ways, including violence. Can you name a worse crime in the history of the United States?

It doesn't matter what the people on the committee think about Trump, as long as the evidence they're collecting is honest and true, and most of it comes from Trump supporters and other Republicans who are testifying under oath.

Look, I’m really not following the hearing, as I’ve said now more than once. But I figured there would not be anything regarding people walking around with rifles, because if there was, it would STILL be all over the news! Second, regarding your statement that the police don’t investigate the innocent, they investigate the guilty… wrong! The police in this country are not supposed to investigate any person, ever! That’s what they did in the Soviet Union… In The U. S., police investigate CRIMES, and the evidence of those crimes, to FIND the suspect! I never said the firearms were being carried openly, just that the police had been notified that someone was concealing an AR-15. Anyone saying there were no firearms at the insurrection is lying, there have been five indictments and at least one photo. The Secret Service were not letting people into the Ellipse because they were carrying weapons that would be confiscated. Trump wanted them to get rid of the detectors and let everyone in because they weren't coming for him. Which is an admission he knew they were armed and coming for someone else.
