I'm not left or pro-life, but I just see this as a very bad precedent and mainly only being done to avoid a "red wave" from Midterms due to the Biden administration's hyper incompetence. People are acting like abortions won't be made outright illegal in half the US and that they won't just stop on the (stupid and pointless to be arguing about) abortion issue. This was all just done to distract people from other things.
Yes, the "the federal government has no say in the matter" but that's not going to change the actual outcome of back-alley abortions, and mentally damaged children being brought into the world by incompetent and/or unloving parents who only had them because some dumb hick thinks it's "baby murder" to not abort a 6 week old embryo inside a woman unfit to raise children, let alone take care of her OWN life and not make stupid decisions that got her pregnant in the first place. There is no good that come from this and just a lot more division and hatred in America amongst the "culture war."

I am not a US citizen and I abstain from venturing an opinion on abortion in the US for three reasons
1. I am not a US citizen. See above
2. I am not a woman and am not inclined to venture an opinion either way
3. A big moral factor is when does life begin? I don't any better than anybody but I am sympathetic to either divide.
I am however entirely unsympathetic to non US citizens who haven't taken the time to understand the US constitution and how it works. I am particularly unsympathetic to some particularly stupid Australians who, despite living in a similar federation system of gov't, where states are responsible for health issues but then seem to think the federal level is responsible.

Thanks StevieNix. A lot of Australians seem to be incapable of distinguishing between our Federal and State gov't responsibilities. That's important because you need to know which to blame for a situation you don't like. I despair at times.
With only six states it is a bit easier for us because our States tend legislate compatibly so it is fairly homogeneous across the country.
Reading that reminds me of this whole covet 19 thing. People were blaming Trump for not having ventilators and all these different things and blaming him for the virus itself. But not once that I hear any of them blame China or the lab who made the virus. Fauci wasn't even playing for funding that lab. I just wish they were smart enough not to blame the supreme Court.
Or the country that sat on it till they had distributed it around the world for that matter. Who was that again? Oh the same one that got upset when Australia demanded an investigation into the origins.
Politicians should be reticent in attacking the court that decides constitutional challenges because they are attacking the very structure of a country. Similarly our High Court justices have been activist in the past but should not have been. Sooner or later an implied right judgement will be overturned because implied right means there is nothing in black letters to support it.

I was having an exchange with a guy on here, and he was mad that Joe Manchin caved and went with his party on a vote. I'm a conservative, that votes Republican, but I came to Joe's defense. I told him that his own party was threatening death threats to him, his wife, his children and his grandchildren. Fuck that. He doesn't owe shit to an America that would allow that shit to happen. The guy told me that Joe is a coward. No, he's not. He just doesn't want the mafia in his party to kill his loved ones.
Actually, the ruling wasn’t that the federal government has no say. The federal government CAN and does pass laws. The ruling simply indicated, correctly, that abortion is not a matter of the US Constitution. Not only can states pass or change whichever laws they choose, they can amend their own constitutions as they see fit. It’s actually better this way, because IF the feds regulate it themselves, it’s subject to being overturned with every change in administration. Since most states don’t swing that far left AND right, the laws will be more consistently influential. Swing states could become battlegrounds, i suppose. But those states tend to sit more moderate anyway, so not likely, in my opinion.
The ever more extremist left only respects the rule of law when it suits them. Just look at those riots.
They use the law as a hammer whenever possible, and if the constitution gets in the way of their marxist ideology then they're happy to ignore it or try to undermine it.
I'm not happy with the result, and the Judges lying about not reopening the issue, however the ruling is technically valid.
I wonder if it would be possible to have a class action suit against them for breaking the oath they made.

I think that their are a lot of people on the left that don’t like the constitution. I get that people will be upset when something they like to have gets taken away but it’s gotten to a point of ridiculous. We have a pro life woman’s clinic in my city that has many resources to help pregnant women and young mothers that was vandalized and attempt at arson. The best thing you can do if you don’t like it is to vote on a state level.
