Worst heartbreak of my life over a girl I really, really loved combined with stress 24/7 as a teenager. I had to take on parental responsibilities that weren't my own, and it was chronic over the course of many years. It was unfathomable the mental turmoil I went through dealing with that, being a father figure to my sisters, constantly losing sleep, and nearly repeating a grade twice because of it all. I used to also have night terrors in the midst of all of this. It was hell!
With that nightmare experience, I gained resilience, perseverance, and a stronger sense of self-worth since the heartbreak. Iron will? I'd say so.
