In college I took a philosophy course. It was an elective but I was required to take a humanities course and this one seemed okay. It turned out it was a course about American philosophy. Guys like John Locke, Jeremy Bentham and Ralph Waldo Emerson and Henry David Thoreau. Where Americans are viewed as arrogant or ill mannered by the rest of the world. . Americans are free to express themselves and foreigners do not understand this and view it as being ill mannered. Americans are great innovators because they have had opportunities to explore now ideas and viewpoints. They have greater freedom to collaborate and to share knowledge.
