Republicans are mostly uneducated, old, and ruled by fear.

They feel more powerful and in control if they can blame others for their problems, because the reality that they are the cause of their own misery is too frightening for them to face.

It's easier for them to blame outsiders than it is to admit they could have done better for themselves.

So they choose candidates who can help them feel better. They don't know or care what those candidates do, just that they tell them that their situation isn't their fault.

How much real influence does Trump really have at this point? He’s been out of office for 1.5 years and has no major social media platform. Yes he gives speeches and has a few rallies. But we are talking fractional amounts of people attending these things in comparison to when he was campaigning.

He’s only alive and well in mass media coverage of the Jan 6th incident which is pathetic attempt to get attention off Biden’s gross incompetence. Also the democrats are looking to get absolutely wrecked in the upcoming mid term elections. They are hoping this will get the democrats more voted. Well it isn’t working.

Most Republicans I know hate Trump. He has NEVER been popular, not even among conservatives. A lot of people (including myself) don't consider him a Republican or conservative either one. He was a Democrat most of his life. His policies are not Republican. Most of what he did in office was more Democrat than Republican.

T be honest I think one reason a lot of Republicans like him is because he trolls the hell out of liberals. The funny thing is that liberals take the bait. A lot of people consider that entertaining.

But those numbers don't matter anyway. You are missing the point that he was a horrible candidate and not well liked. To some degree it's always a case of voting the lesser of the evils. In 2016 it was by far the biggest case of that in my lifetime. It was a choice between two evils. People voted for Trump because anything was better than Hilary. If it had been Biden in 2016 instead of Hilary he probably would have won because Biden was not hated nearly as much as Hillary.

Of course those numbers matter, they're the reason Biden won. 27 million people turned out that didn't in 2016, and most of them turned out to vote for Biden. You still don't explain how, if Trump was so unpopular, a RINO, how did he get the nomination, and why did more people turn out to vote for him?

Trump re-energized the Republican party from a bunch of old rich white guys to an all inclusive, pro-American party. They have picked up millions of new members, many from traditionally democrat groups.
