Should the government track medical data to sniff out abortions?

Republican lawmakers said they intend to change HIPAA laws in order to monitor medical data to identify and prosecute women who have abortions. Is it ok with you to give up medical privacy so the government can prosecute offenders?

Trust me hon they’re going to do that. As much as I wouldn’t like that, if abortion really becomes a crime then they would not be Violating HIPPA getting those records. So basically this is the catch; healthcare providers are mandated to release info to the govt for certain investigations.

@UCrayCray Yes there are lots of things I would not give up. I would inform the gouvermnment of what I own, they would be free to come visit and look at these things, or hear what I usualy do. I'm not going to stop doing any of these things.

Look, I do have standards. I expect the gouverment to not go toally fascist or communist. Within reason, if they can tell me what crimes my things might help them solve, I will gladly help them as long as its not absolute bollocks.

With all that said, since the question was about abortion and medical data, yes I would absolutely let them read my medical files to sniff out abortions.

I would not let them steal my movie collection, comic collection, game collection or raid my fridge.
