When and why did you get fined while driving?

I got fined for ignoring a yellow light last month, but plot twist, I was not driving - it was my sister, she was driving my car and I was on the passenger seat. There was a camera on the traffic light that took a photo of the car plus identification number, so I got the fine even though it's clear I'm not driving.

I'm not bothered by the monetary fine, but I'm upset because I lost points on my license. My sister wants to go file a rectification to the authorities so she gets the penalty but it still bothers me.

I got fined twice, one time for not showing parking disk while parking (there wasn’t the indication of mandatory exposition of parking disk, but ok) and the other one for excess of speed (whoops). Both times I paid but I didn’t lose any point on my license.


I sincerely didn’t know it can be fined for not respecting YELLOW light 🧐🧐

In the US, if the picture from the red light camera cannot clearly identify the driver, then the ticket is the responsibility of the car owner. Sounds like it's the same where you live. It's admirable for your sister to try to take the blame. Let us know if she's successful.

Not sure where you live but anytime a photo camera gives a red light camera fine there is no points on your license because they can’t prove who was driving, what time I got pulled over for going through a yellow light but making a left on red because I was in the intersection because it was a cop that did it and not a red light camera which would not of picked up on that from the sun sir I got a ticket for it

I mean the sensor I was already passed so I would not have gotten a ticket from red light camera since it wasn’t a red light yet when I passed over the sensor, so this asshole cop gave me a ticket for going through the red light when I was actually in the intersection blocking it and had to go once the light changed red on the other side

You can definitely go to court and beat that ticket if they actually tried to pull points in a license because they can’t prove who was driving and if they did have a picture of who was driving it wasn’t you

The system is automated, so it took the plate of car (which is in my name) and attributed the fine to me.
To rectificy the situation we have to go go the precinct that issues the fine, have them check the photo and then have the penalty switched to the driver.
It's not great and they should be more precise about it.

Yeah usually in most states there is no points for who was driving because they really can’t tell who was driving and it’s happened many times when I had a car in my name and it was my daughters driving and I wasn’t even in the car so I used to get red light tickets because of them, if I got points for that I would be in big trouble with my job so luckily they don’t do that because that’s not correct when the car can be registered to anybody especially even a rental car

What country are you in because that doesn’t even sound like something that would happen in the USA, people would say that’s totally unconstitutional because they can’t see who was driving

Oh ok, that sucks, I guess the rental car places have to pay for a lot of tickets that they didn’t do so I think they need to reassess how they do their ticketing, if they tried to do that here there will be a big uproar, people were already smashing the red light cameras when they first came out and knocking down the poles

Got a few speed camera tickets. Those don’t count against your license here so really don’t care

I never got so much as a warning for many year, then as soon as the insurance companies starting giving surcharges for tickets i got 3 speeding tickets in about 6 months.

Where are you that those cameras are still in use? I thought they were essentially banned.

I've been pulled over, for having defective light bulbs. But never been written up for it.
