Honor those killed in Ukraine/Russia 2013-202x war?

Do you think would be good idea to honor those in war, on both sides who died or killed.. recording their life, at least acknowledging?

I personally see the war as a useless mess and waste, on both sides. Most are... Iraq was, to me. Pointless and dangerous, for some... permanent. The soldiers have little choice and the civilians have only to run if they are lucky.

As General Smedly Butler once said..."war is a racket".

I say this as I just visited the cemetaries at Normandy, gives a minor sense of the misery required to bring about peace of that time. Every grave contained a story and a tragic ending we'll never know.

Thus, have a web site posting all those whom were killed, that we know of... ideally, war as a method of control, should be reduced if not eliminated.

I mean "special military operation", "oops we invaded", "ummm... it was our country before you jacked with it", "police action".

During the Iran-Iraq war, the Iranian government, desperate, took the small army of street urchins the war had created, gave them helmets and pointed sticks, and had them charge at entrenched Iraqi positions- across MINEFIELDS. Saddam was a monster, yes. That doesn't mean Ali was, or Wakaz or Faisal. They were just regular guys, not too different from you or me.

yes war is shit, however you do not honour a side that is preparing to execute prisoners of war.

I assume honouring the Taliban etc is great idea, oh and those from 9/11.

Also it’s a War where the Russians are very clearly committing war crimes, are deliberately targeting civilians so as to spread that typical Russian terror.

Drop an email to the families of the two Americans captured by the Russians, the ones facing a death sentence, and or the two British guys captured facing the death sentence, oh sorry only one new, the other has ‘died’ in captivity,

The Russians are currently recruiting from prisons, so the person you plan to honour, potentially was a rapist, murderer etc shoved in to a uniform.

I agree with this entire post, it’s a view I don’t see often enough — people seem to get easily drawn into the this then the fog of war. There’s nothing glorious about war and a senseless war is nothing but glorification of the worst crimes, the true victims no longer here or whose lives are forever changed irrevocably, the profiteers always lurking in the corner.

I think each country should honor it's own dead even if that country lost the war.

But if the U. S. honored another country's dead, it would only be for the purpose of political posturing and manipulation.

In the case of Ukraine, I doubt if that country will erect any memorials to the innocent men, women and children it murdered over the past 8 or so years in its quest to ethnically cleanse the country of Russians and Russian speakers.

I think that America's gun-loving "Second Amendment Enthusiasts" should help the Ukrainians with the war effort by donating all their extra guns and ammo to the Ukrainian military. That's a good way to honor the Ukrainian dead.

I think the Ukrainians who died defending their country will one day be honored. The Russians will probably not be by anyone other than their families.
