Combat should not be emphasized. God told the Jewish people to kill the Moabites who attacked them when the crossed the red sea. The emphasis should be on loving others. You don't need to be a giant to operate a rifle. That said they should still be subject to the same physical requirements. If they can hack it, great. If not then tough, do a different roll.
