If I put every prominent Republican who is likely to run side by side on the issues, DeSantis wins or ties for the win in every category. Trump can energize rallies a bit better mainly because he jokes around and is more of a showman, but DeSantis is equally blunt and practical while coming across better-spoken, and both have merits for winning over the middle. He's also significantly younger, and like it or not, Trump is up there in years, not all that far behind "sleepy Joe," and he's noticeably less energetic now than he was in 2017-2018. His main advantage is really name recognition- EVERYBODY knows who he is, but most people who don't pay attention to the news or live in Florida have no idea who DeSantis is. To Ron's credit however, he turned Florida from a battleground state that he himself barely won to the new main bastion of conservatism in only a couple years, so decisively red that the Democrats are barely even attempting to oppose him at the state level. The true irony here is that neither DeSantis or Trump are particularly right-wing politicians, but simply because they actually do stuff rather than just talking about doing stuff, they get smeared as extremists constantly.
Now there's some pretty valid strategic reasons why it could be argued that the Republicans are better off running Trump as a lame duck especially with the likelihood of needing to make drastic changes to the function of government that will directly affect daily lives, but the reality is that much of what the Republicans (or anyone for that matter) actually need to do to get the country back on track would require the RINOs to get voted out, and at least some democrats to break away from the hive mind, and that's largely independent of who's in the oval office.
Youve also got another factor: Trump running. He hasn't officially announced that he is running because it would put him under the scrutiny of election laws for the next 2.5 years unnecessarily, but pretty much everyone who has any actual contact with him is convinced it's going to happen. When that does, it would be very foolish for any of the America-first populist Republicans such as DeSantis, Hawley, or Pompeo to run against him and not only split the vote, but also torpedo themselves in the process because everybody knows Trump campaigns aggressively and more like a Democrat than a traditional Republican. The last thing the Republicans need is to destroy the careers of what's frankly the only serious group in the party most of the time. There's also the possibility he's doing everything he does just to ruffle liberal feathers because he lives rent-free in their brains and policymaking 24/7, and loves it. Basically the more the Democrats sink the ship while b*tching about Trump, the more they empower him.
To me, it must be a republican.
Donald Trump talks too much about the past instead of looking forward. And there are too many scandals surrounding him. So he is out.
Mike Pence will probably have little chance of winning because a small yet relevant republican base is still distraught with him for certifying the election results. So he is out.
Ted Cruz is too immature. He's a joke.
Nikki Haley is a RINO. Some moderates might see that as a good thing but too many republican voters could be turned off by that. So she is out.
Tom Cotton should be a pretty good candidate. Great at revealing the flaws in Biden and has pretty strong support from old fashioned conservatives. I would vote for him.
Ron DeSantis obviously stands out in popularity above all the other candidates. He has been great in Florida, receives plenty of high profile coverage leading to big fundraising. He has strong ideas that align with the republican party. He has a strong personality with great leadership and public speaking skills. So he is my #1 choice.
Andrew Yang with the Forward party. Both the Democrat and Republican parties are completely whacked and will not help the US move in a positive direction. We need an alternative, and the Forward party is the best alternative I can see right now.
I want a NORMAL person, who doesn’t act like he or she hates those who disagree with them. I want a politician that doesn’t insult or attack, but works to find the best solutions to policy issues, and works to find agreement.

My preferences are not listed fully so here are mine:
1. Ron DeSantis
2. Any Republican other than Trump
3. Trump.
Right now Trump is too divisive as a candidate. Also, legally he only has ONE term left to clean up Biden's mess. Most of a president's first term is spent trying to fix messes his predecessor made. The exception is Biden. Biden was given a silver platter by Trump in terms of the economy and global standing and managed to mess it up. One term is not enough time to clean up Biden's mess. That is why he is listed last.
Ron DeSantis is my first choice. He is the Republican who has opposed Biden and Democrats the most. Abbot is not too far behind DeSantis, but I believe Abbot is too far right and out of touch with the people while DeSantis at least tries to find reasonable middle ground. DeSantis is also more likely than any other Republican to get a 2nd term, which is crucial because his first term will be spent cleaning up the mess Democrats have made.
ANY republican is better than ANY Democrat. Democrats are attacking the 2nd Amendment too much, which risks harming our country. Democrats are weak and believe the world should run on optimism and promises with other countries, which makes us look weak in the international community. Democrats spend recklessly, which makes life more expensive for Americans.

I don't have any particular issue with him, but I feel like we need someone who's younger, and less polarizing. Even if Biden had been the greatest President in history, the simple fact that he followed Trump was enough to make him a very controversial figure, and cast a pall over his entire presidency, from day 1.
We need a clean slate, with new blood, from both sides. No more Biden, and no more Trump. Let's move on from the shadows of the past, get away from both sides attacking/sabotaging each other, and get some candidates that don't constantly remind us of 2016-2024.
Ideally, I'd prefer to see the majority of the "poster children" from the recent political era replaced, not just in the White House, but within Congress, as well. McConnell, MTG, Graham, Pelosi, Schumer, AOC, etc; there's just too much bad blood, on both sides of the aisle.
I'm tired of the political BS. I want somebody in office that is not a puppet that can think for themselves. I do not want somebody that bullies himself around. I want a god-fearing individual that listens to the consensus of the people. I would like to have somebody that's more Central. No left no right. But willing to tell you the way it is. If I want a song and dance. I would go to a concert. I want somebody that is not politically motivated for one party once in office. I want that individual to work with both groups of Senate and Congress.
We’re long past due to end the two party monopoly on our nation. STOP voting democripps and rebloodlicans! Pay attention to the independents and spread the word. WE have to change the system because it’s obvious THEY never will!!!
I want to see Trump return. He has a lot of unfinished business.

I do not know if it will be better or worse, but it's the unknown factor.
I don't have a party preference, I'd support Jill Stein, Tulsi Gabbard, Rand Paul or Thomas Massie if one of them was candidate. I don't think I'd support anyone else.
Neither, I’ll just vote for Jo Jorgensen again. Tulsi Gabbard if I absolutely had to vote for a democrat. Don’t know of any republicans that are the least shitty of their group that I’d vote for if I absolutely had to.

Although I'm not directly affected I think most of us in the outside world would like to see a Democrat win in 2024, and preferably not Joe Biden.
I support Robert Clifton, or at least Comrade Bernie Sanders, if He ain’t going to turn the damn Yankeeland into a bloody communist country (is He?).
I voted for DeSantis but anyone would do a better job (except K. Harris) than the current vegetable that is the POTUS
DeSantis is the last real conservative in US politics. A fair mix of authoritative and libertarian. The rest are shit. Hell I'd take DeSantis>Biden.
I like me; but I am unlikely to run. And even if I do; I am unlikely to win. As for the current front runners, I like DeSantis the most.
I'd like to see Nikki Haley run in 2024 ... she could win as a Republican against just bout anyone the Democrats would nominate.
