What's your opinion on menstrual leave? Do you support it? Why or why not?

What are the pros and cons and do you believe all companies should have support of it, especially paid leave as well. For some women their monthly cycle is extremely painful with some companies allowing the women to either take a sick day or work remotely from the workplace. Do you believe this will cause backlash and be consider sexist? Is it considered a privilege or a basic right? What are your thoughts on the debate?

It's admittedly something that wasn't even on my radar until someone else made a post about it sometime in the last year. ( @purplepoppy , maybe? ). After giving it some thought, I want to say that I think it is a reasonable concept and therefore something I would support. I don't think it should be paid, though. Unless you're still actually working (from home).

Periods vary per woman and some of them experience such big cramps and pain for a few days they really need to take it easy

The rest of the days they can do all work like normal and sometimes even better than the men who wine about women having their period

Women can say they want "equality" and then complain about crap like this. I'm sure women working in the fields in some third world African country to farm and harvest don't get some stupid "period leave." Crap like this is what's making society weaker and lamer.

I don't even support maternity leave, to be honest. Why the hell should a company pay you for deciding to get pregnant? When is it society's job to cater to everyone's personal wants and needs and give you free money for it? In my job here, I haven't even taken a single sick day in the entire time I've been here. If people feel that inclined to not work, they should just quit and find better work out there. No one is entitled to hire someone.

Maternity leave is so the mother can recover from childbirth and to be able to bond with baby. Depends on how the mother gave birth whether it was vaginally or via C-section she's going to need time to recover. A lot happened to a woman after she gives birth mentally, physically, and emotionally. Like I would love to be a mom should the job I take not hire me because I'll need 6-8 weeks to recover and with my health condition I may not be able to give birth vaginally but via C-section, so will I have to sacrificed my dreams of being a mom.

I agree it should be an option a job can offer someone, after say a year or two of employment, but it should not be mandatory, nor entitled to anyone. That's like if I wanted to take off from teaching for three months to go skiing and travel across Europe, and justified it as "mental health leave" and told my job they need to pay for it or else "they don't respect my mental health."

So are woman just not allowed to have children. I already know my life will change when I have my baby someday. Now my current job give women paid maternity leave after they been their for a year at least. I had a coworker who just had her first child via emergency c section and she's glad she had time to recover cause she was in pain for weeks. Again are we women just not allowed to have children or are expected to just go to work the next day/do household chores without help after going through hours and hours of agonizing pain?

Like I said, a job can offer it, but it's entitled as hell to think a company should pay someone for their personal life choices. As someone else stated, women can ask for equality, and then ask for special treatment like this, while not seeing the irony in that.

Aren't most women supposed to stop working once they have children, anyway? If someone wants to have kids, then do it on your own dime. Or be grateful companies are willing to give maternity leave. But that by no means should be entitled to anyone. I'm not even an emotionless corporate asshole type, either. But as I said, that's equality. If I owned a business and had to pay women to not work, then I just wouldn't hire any women.

What's wrong with women that need a day off... well we all know, they're slackers who contribute little to the workplace anyway and was it 50 years ago they wouldn't have jobs. Just like many of the more crybaby men in work forces wouldn't have jobs 50 years ago.

Wait paid leave for a whole week every month? No I don't support it that seems really unfair plus then literally no women would be hired. We can't afford for half the workforce to just not work for a full week once a month.
I believe it should be accepted as a valid reason for a sick day though. If you are having bad cramps or whatever I believe employers should accept that reason just like they would covid.

I went to work with a bad flu - and guess what - the work got done.

My view: spare paid leave-days for really severe cases, and don't be whiny.

I support it and want to create a new job position: Menstrual Assistance Officer, or MAO. My job would be to visit all the women on leave who need or require sex to ease their cramps, and those who's sexual appetites become voracious. For those who don't fit that category, the company will send you some pain killers.

Having a period is a normal part of life for women. It should not be treated as a disease or impairment. If a woman does have a particularly bad period, she should be able to take time off, with some sort of documentation needed to prevent abuse.

I absolutely support it. As a woman many times I wished this was taken into consideration. Some of us really struggle with our periods and many times the pain is unbearable. I had to report sick a few times because of severe period cramps.

I don't like giving women a privileged special exemption status. I would however be in favor of giving everyone a 4 day work week and generous flex days. Everybody needs to breathe sometimes regardless of gender for a host of reasons.

Outside of sexual harassment and other unprofessional things like that, no one is "entitled" to a "comfortable work environment." If you've ever seen poor Amazon workers in a warehouse, then you'd know this. It'd be NICE to have that, but it is not "entitled" to a single person in this world.
