Speaking from personal experience the four days leading up to and the first 2 days of my period are painful for me. I have severe headaches that ibuprofen and Advil don’t relief and I am unproductive because of that. I am not stating that women on their periods shouldn’t come to work if they want to, but shouldn’t they be given an option to call in sick because of how painful their periods are?

What Girls Said
Yes! I remember being a teen and being in my 20s and suffering with really bad period cramps so I empathize with any woman who suffer from period cramps and brings this to my attention. My period cramps got much better over the years but I will never forget how I used to feel during that time of the month.
Going to work especially on the first day of my period is hell. I get headaches, stomach cramps and terrible mood swings and I work in a client facing role
I know the feeling very well dear and I wonder why is it taking so long for period sick leave to become a legality. At least two days should be mandatory.
Hear hear it needs to be mandatory
Where I live some companies do offer one day off or half day work each month for the ladies specifically, it’s unpaid (doesn’t count as a sick day or pto) but still better than nothing lol
Absolutely.
