Is not wanting to be home such a bad thing at 18 years old?

Like I don’t want to be home at all most of the time. My dogs annoy me, my family annoys me and I’m constantly bored or being complained about.

I graduated high school at 17 and went to an out-of-state college when I was 18. So I spent zero time at home because it was a three day bus or train ride to get there.

When I was 17 I didn't spend much time at home. Not for the same reason as you, but because I was active and had lots of things to do. We didn't have computers and video games then so we went out and did stuff.

It sounds to me like you're the kind of person who needs to get a job and move out at a young age. Nothing wrong with that. Most likely your feelings about home will change as you get older. But for now it doesn't sound like you are too happy there.

Nah not at all it's totally understandable to want to go out and do stuff. Just to exit the house and catch a breath honestly. I'm like you I can't sit doing nothing at the house all the time I've got to where I need to go out and do something at least a few times a week

In my general opinion I always wanted to go out with my friends to the mall just so I can get out of the house but my mom will never let me because she is very overbearing, controlling and very protective which is in my opinion not good parenting to keep children sheltered from the world just because you're scared something bad will happen to them which is actually keeping them learning the wrongs in the rights in society.

In life when we start growing and we start finding ourselves we want to experience everything we need to know we want to know and we can't do it sitting at home because you have to respect whoever else you live there with and you're not letting yourself be free and grow it's something that we all go through but you were at the age of wanting to learn things experiencing them understanding of becoming them and I think that's a beautiful thing because everything that you do in life from now on is going to be an experience and you want it to be the best experience

What are they complaining about? Because if the complaint is you being useless on house, like not helping on chores or racking up bills and not contributing on it - it's a valid complaint for me.

My grandma always calls me useless and lazy even though I’m struggling with depression and motivation, I pay her cable bill, buy her food, shit for the house and pets but I’m not treated like I’m 18 nor am I talked to like I’m 18. My grandma comments on me and my boyfriend a lot too about how I always want to leave with him and all that but my house isn’t peaceful and the energy I get from here is always suffocating.

Her house is a mess. I can clean and she’ll still be upset cuz it’s not how she wants it done. If you do do something she wants it done a certain way so she’ll micro manage me. I don’t like being in this state cuz I know if I had my own place it would be in better shape but she’s always displeased

Me and my grandma aren’t on good terms and she doesn’t care she said she’s not gonna change and my mom and dad are aware but can’t do anything to change her mind

When I was 18 it was all I thought of. I loved going to new places. I see now that I never really had a place that felt like home to me.
