In particular, I see that some flags have this text on them. Do you know why this is being written on them? What does the snake in this flag symbolize?

Th Gadsden Flag was designed in 1775 as a battle flag for American side of the American Revolution.

Unfortunately, many alt-right and white supremacists have adopted it as their symbol, meaning unless the true meaning and use of it via protest against over-reaching government influence (i. e. the Uterus version mentioned above, as a government legislating American women's bodies is overreach) is more powerful and numerous than the neo-Nazi use of it, it will lose its message and become a hate symbol.
