China can overtake Taiwan easy, the problem is the rest of the words response to it that is a more difficult puzzle. Japan has already vowed to defend them, so if thy start war with Taiwan they start war with Japan, etc. etc.

First I don't think their navy is quite "blue water" capable yet, and second, no one talks about it, but I am sure Taiwan has nukes and will use them.

A little history: Back in 1958, Chairman Mao and his baddies were threatening an amphibious invasion of Taiwan, and the Eisenhower Administration in response made it clear that the USA would nuke if push came to shove on the matter. There were not direct diplomatic relations with Red China at the time, those came later in 1972 when Ike's Veep "Tricky Dick" Nixon had become President, but the message was sent via other nations:

Red China actually DID attempt an amphibious landing at Taiwan's Dongding Island outpost (no kidding, that's what the place is named), but it was repulsed and Red China took casualties for its attempt.

At the time, my old man was an E-5 Staff Sergeant with the USAF at Offutt Air Force Base, then HQ for Strategic Air Command and it is still HQ for what is now called STRATCOM today. My old man was working on the then newfangled technology of guided missiles, seeing how they could be attached to or put in the bomb bays of B-47 and B-52 bombers, the latter still in use today. The base went on full alert and the nuclear bomber aircrews were prepared to go if it came to that.

Meanwhile, in the People's Liberation Army, an officer, Col. Wang An-Tau, was practicing amphibious landings with the possibility of invading Taiwan. He fell out of favor in the terrible Cultural Revolution times, but eventually, his professor wife managed to secure a teaching position at an American university in the 1980s when there was a thaw in Sino-American relations, and she worked to bring her husband and daughter over to America over the years.

In 1994 the Colonel's daughter met the Staff Sergeant's son, me, and we married in 1995. The marriage did not work out (I blame the Communists for the Cultural Revolution trauma my wife suffered even as a small child), but that is a story for another day.

Unlike most conventional weapons, Hypersonic missiles and Chinese cruise missiles can deliver a conventional high explosives munitions capable of sinking an aircraft carrier, along with torpedoes which China literally invented torpedoes, so I know they have superior torpedo technology. One shotgun blast from a Railgun would destroy every aircraft on the carrier in one go if we tried to get in decent range to engage with our destroyers and aircraft.

And no, Taiwan does not have nukes. They didn't get them from the USA, and they haven't invented them for themselves. Everyone who's ever built a nuclear bomb has tested their most advanced model to prove to themselves and everyone else that they have it and it works The whole point of building a nuclear bomb is to frighten everyone else into never attacking you. If you don't prove you have the thing, nobody believes you and nobody is scared of you.

Israel does not have nuclear weapons either. There's all sorts of conspiracy theories claiming they have them, but they don't. If they did, they'd test at least one of them underground or underwater in the ocean, but they never have done that.

You haven't proven they ever had a real nuke. It might not even work if they never tested it. It could be a "dud" or it could be just a dirty bomb instead of a true nuke.

There are all sorts of reasons you'd definitely want to test at least one bomb from each major design improvement, like I said most importantly to prove to your own military commanders that it works reliably and correctly and to prove it has the yield you think it has, otherwise you'd miscalculate how powerful your arsenal is from a factor of 10% to a total failure of your arsenal.

The united states and russia both learned how to make anti-matter bombs by accident due to their nuclear testing. They can make a bomb big enough to disintegrate the entire planet if they want to and Dr. Kaku even said it can be done without anti-matter, much less with the anti-matter synthesis explosion I know the U. S. discovered at CAstle Bravo.

Other nations do not know this secret yet, because they didn't do enough testing. NOrth Korea probably discovered it too when they tested their two-stage hydrogen bomb , but that depends on whether they had the correct sensors installed at the test location.

I don't know where you get your information from, but the USA and it's people are in debt up to their eyeballs at every level of government and in terms of corporate and private debts too. The United States is actually the POOREST nation in the world today, because our debts are literally more than the entire land value of the nation itself... and growing rapidly.

You are deluding yourself if you think we could beat China in a full scale war a few miles away from their own coastlines. China would have "Defneder's advantage" vs the USA even though Taiwan would have defender's advantage vs China.

One General on the news said defenders advantage in modern warfare makes between a 4 to 1 and a 6 to 1 difference. That means if the USA tried to defend Taiwan and coutner-attack China, we'd lost between 4 and 6 combat units for every one combat unit China would lose.

We'd get CRUCIFIED by China in such a scenario And again, their real GDP is now a trillion dollars per year more than ours and their population is 5 times bigger than ours. They'd easily win a war of attrition with us whether or not it came to nukes in the end.

Well, I've heard that China's military is suffering from similar problems that the Russian military is suffering from. And unlike Ukraine, Taiwan is defended by sea, has mountains and while its' armed forces are about as modernized as those of Ukraine, they're a lot more organized. If what I said is true and the mainland tries to invade, the invasion will fail in a blood bath.

Going off the information I know pertaining to the Chinese military. The Chinese military does not have any military experience at this time. But with the Korean war conflict from years past they've had a history of mass attack. They will take high casualties at all cost. The Chinese will attack and full force overrunning the small island. Take no little prisoners.

Well the mass attack/human wave thing during the Korean War is a bit of a misnomer. It wasn't a mass attack along the whole front, rather it was a bunch of soldiers concentrated at the weakest point of the enemies' front line so they could overwhelm the defenses and hit other positions on their undefended flanks. Now sometimes intelligence can fail to identify the weakest point in the line and then you wind up with situations where a whole bunch of Chinese troops get gunned down by US defenses.

And some of the books I've read over the period of time also talked about massive human waves. I also have friends that are Chinese that I've worked with. Some of them are very obedient and wanting to please the people they work with and Friends. My acupuncturist is Chinese he goes to China once a year to see his family and friends in his homeland.
