China can overtake Taiwan easy, the problem is the rest of the words response to it that is a more difficult puzzle. Japan has already vowed to defend them, so if thy start war with Taiwan they start war with Japan, etc. etc.

First I don't think their navy is quite "blue water" capable yet, and second, no one talks about it, but I am sure Taiwan has nukes and will use them.
A little history: Back in 1958, Chairman Mao and his baddies were threatening an amphibious invasion of Taiwan, and the Eisenhower Administration in response made it clear that the USA would nuke if push came to shove on the matter. There were not direct diplomatic relations with Red China at the time, those came later in 1972 when Ike's Veep "Tricky Dick" Nixon had become President, but the message was sent via other nations:

Red China actually DID attempt an amphibious landing at Taiwan's Dongding Island outpost (no kidding, that's what the place is named), but it was repulsed and Red China took casualties for its attempt.
At the time, my old man was an E-5 Staff Sergeant with the USAF at Offutt Air Force Base, then HQ for Strategic Air Command and it is still HQ for what is now called STRATCOM today. My old man was working on the then newfangled technology of guided missiles, seeing how they could be attached to or put in the bomb bays of B-47 and B-52 bombers, the latter still in use today. The base went on full alert and the nuclear bomber aircrews were prepared to go if it came to that.

In 1994 the Colonel's daughter met the Staff Sergeant's son, me, and we married in 1995. The marriage did not work out (I blame the Communists for the Cultural Revolution trauma my wife suffered even as a small child), but that is a story for another day.

Unlike most conventional weapons, Hypersonic missiles and Chinese cruise missiles can deliver a conventional high explosives munitions capable of sinking an aircraft carrier, along with torpedoes which China literally invented torpedoes, so I know they have superior torpedo technology. One shotgun blast from a Railgun would destroy every aircraft on the carrier in one go if we tried to get in decent range to engage with our destroyers and aircraft.
Taiwan has a defense pack with the greatest military to ever exist being USA. It took 20 years for the congressional military industrial complex in the middle east to get bored with goat herders.

Well, I've heard that China's military is suffering from similar problems that the Russian military is suffering from. And unlike Ukraine, Taiwan is defended by sea, has mountains and while its' armed forces are about as modernized as those of Ukraine, they're a lot more organized. If what I said is true and the mainland tries to invade, the invasion will fail in a blood bath.
Dont need to fight but if "dont need to fight" is a cause to make them lie cover law. USA is no reason to get involved. Perhaps just kill the president. One day.
Going off the information I know pertaining to the Chinese military. The Chinese military does not have any military experience at this time. But with the Korean war conflict from years past they've had a history of mass attack. They will take high casualties at all cost. The Chinese will attack and full force overrunning the small island. Take no little prisoners.
Depends on how many other countries get involved. If the west does nothing, it could be a within days or hours. Taiwan is expecting an attack any day now so it may not go as easily as China thinks.

The PRC can easily invade Taiwan, but it won't, because if it tries, the United States will declare war on it.
