Question

In 2015, 39.6% of custodial single fathers got child support while over 50% of single mothers did. There were 11 million single parent families in 2021, 80% were headed by single moms. Do you think child support encourages fatherless behavior? Or do you agree with the enforcement of child support?

child support and alimony are outdated tactics put in place roughly 50+ years ago. back when women had far few options to earn their own income. meaning many would relay on the fathers income or their ex partners income to make ends meet. ideally if modern women want the right to abort a pregnancy for whatever reason. then men should have the ability to sign away all legal rights and responsibilities for a child. because their are women who trick men into knocking them up. so they can force him to remain a part of their lives physically and/or financially. even a term for it *spurgling*

Parents share equal responsibility for the children - "wanted" or not.

That means equal custody. A child should never be a way to get "even" with an ex sexual partner.

It also means if either partner fails to fulfil their role as mother or father the law needs to investigate why, not assume the man is at fault.

Equal support legally. Financially. In terms of housing.

If the father really doesn't want anything to do with the kid, and he informed me before we had sex that he doesn't want parenthood, then yes — he's no obligations, he can walk out on us. Honestly, at this rate I'd rather date a guy who would walk out rather than a guy who forces preggers on me because that's what he wants.

Child support should only be paid by absent parents. I know fathers that have shared custody that have their kids one or two days a week less than the mothers. They pay child support and still have to provide everything the child needs in their home as well, plus providing health insurance. The system is broken and unfair.

Chold support is completely flawed and promotes single motherhood. Girls can literally live off government assistance and even make more money having kids as a single mom than having their own job. There is also no reason women should be able to snag a rich persons wealth by getting pregnant. R. Kelly was paying $20k a month in child support, similar to other wealthy people. That’s insane. Mothers don’t even have to be citizens to get child support. Women were literally waiting for child birth and crossing the border to have their babies to be American citizens and gain benefits. It’s a broken system.

The Fifth Amendment of the U. S. Constitution reads: ""... nor shall private property be taken for public use, without just compensation."

So, tell me, why does the State government feel that I should be the one to pay when someone takes my property? If a woman wants my child, she can pay me for it.

I’ve seen a lot of women take the child support money, and use it for things that have absolutely nothing to do with the child.

Like getting their hair and nails done with that money, or buying materialistic things.
Not right.

I’m not a father, but if I found out the mother of my kids was doing this, I’d take her ass to court to have the judge re evaluate those funds

how does "having to pay the person you left" encourage leaving them? i don't get that question.

it is mean to discourage leaving your partner and also prevent the child from being fucked over too much by it's parents fucking up their relationship.

If the father didn't agree to being a father than it should be the woman's responsibility and she shouldn't get child support because could've gotten abortion or took birth control.

Men don't get a pill to take so it's the woman's responsibility to make sure she doesn't get pregnant with a guy who doesn't want a kid.

Yes, especially for men and women who won't take responsibility in raising their children and just want to dump the responsibility onto one parent. Child support would never been thing if people willingly took care of their kids.

Child custody should generally be 50/50 and each parent work. A lot of women in divorces do all they can including making false allegations of domestic abuse to get maximise child custody for maximum child support.

Yes, but it needs to be better and more tightly regulated to where the money is only spent supporting the child, and the parent only receives said child support if they allow the other parent access to the child their paying child support for.

Lots of issues. But the majority of problems are fathers fleeing and not paying child support. So thats where attention lies.

But there are arguments to be had about fairness for fathers in a lot of ways. But dont over blow it.
