The main reason that promiscuity, female promiscuity in particular, has always been shamed is because it’s vital to social cohesion.
British anthropologist, J. D. Unwin, wrote about this in his book “Sex And Culture”. He studied hundreds of past civilisations and tribes to find out why all of them eventually fell. What he found was that each culture would follow a very similar pattern, and this pattern, the rise and fall of all of these cultures, had mostly to do with sexual morality.
Before modern times there’s evidence that 80% of women reproduced, in comparison to only 40% of men. Meaning that the majority of men throughout history never had children, and this was mostly because they were unable to secure a mate. These societies were mostly polygamous - men with multiple wives.
Polygamous societies tend to be less cohesive, and there tends to be more violence, since the men who can’t get laid are more likely to lash out in anger, as we’re seeing already today with incel mass shooters. Men without children don’t feel like they have any stake in the future society either, so they seen no reason to be productive. Again we see this attitude in MGTOW men. Men who feel like they have nothing to lose are dangerous.
Culturally enforced monogamy was introduced to remedy this. All men were expected to have only one wife, so that more women were available for the men who otherwise wouldn’t have them. Then when those men were married with children they had skin in the game, so they became more productive and co-operative. This obviously included shaming of promiscuity.
While these cultures practiced monogamy, which meant that most men had wives and children to provide for and protect, and more reason to contribute to the betterment of society, Unwin says that those cultures gained what he called “expansive energy”. The men’s focus wasn’t on getting laid or anger about not getting laid anymore, their focus was on building a stronger, more successful society.
The reason mainly women have always been shamed is because it’s so much easier for women to get laid. All they have to do is not be hideous + be available. That’s it. They don’t have to talk a guy into it like we have to with women. Women are the gatekeepers of sex. It hasn’t always been the case that men could sleep around freely, because in the past there were nowhere near as many women willing to sleep around or have pre-marital sex as there are today. People were more religious back then also.
What J. D. Unwin found was that in each of these cultures, the collapse came not long after the loosening of sexual morality, in particular for women. Whenever this happened the culture would see more divorce, lower birth rates, less social cohesion, more violence, more instability.
He then found that they fell for one of two reasons:
1) internal conflict, civil war, anarchy (similar to the increasing political divide today)
2) invasion from a culture with more expansive energy (similar to mass immigration of Muslims into the West today)
Once a culture reaches peak success they tend to abandon the old values, believing them to be out-dated, not realising that all they’re doing is undoing the things which brought them to that level of success in the first place.
There’s also no solution to this. This is just human nature.

Yeah it’s hard to explain this briefly in a way that people will understand, because people don’t think about this stuff at all. They assume that we can just change these things and that everything will be fine, and they’re focused on their idea of what an ideal society would be rather than how the world really works.
Another thing that most people don’t understand is that you can’t just import other people from radically different cultures to maintain your own culture because of low birth rates. All that happens there is that eventually, especially if the new arrivals have higher birth rates, and especially if they’re heavily religious, is that their culture grows while your own is replaced/destroyed. They don’t understand the importance of birth rates.
That's a whole paradox to explain, I'll do my best... we're very different from a sexual/relationship standpoint, if you want to think about a really attractive guy you'd think about a guy who's good looking has money takes care of himself respected by everyone seems like somehow he's very well known, competent and confident af, if a guy is thinking about a really attractive woman he'll think about a very physically attractive woman that is loyal that hasn't slept around because it's cheap (I'll explain) and because if there are other men he knows that have slept with her that will destroy his social status instead of raising it up (he'll hear shit like ohhh he married her but we've all had her... Yea no worst feeling for a guy)
Now why it's cheap, which leads me to my second point, it's cheap because a woman's value is innate, she doesn't have to accomplish anything she doesn't have to do anything (that's not me complaining I'm genuinely just explaining this) her value is in her, her beauty and her values and her actions according to those values and her respect for others, that's it it's all innate, you could sit in your room all day you'd need 15 mins and you'll have your entire value ready..
For guys it's different, it's extremely social, what he has done (money achievements captain of the football team musician, potential basically) how do people behave around him how does he behave around other people how well does he take care of himself to not look like a pos outside, that's the basic quick version of how it goes for guys and most of it is social feedback how he looks and how he feels about himself are the only innate things that don't play enough of a role in the grand scheme of things...
So a man has to go out there and risk it all the time (which has its pros and cons), meanwhile a woman has to preserve and enhance what she already has (which has its pros and cons), so a guy who goes out there and fucks is a guy that isn't a loser, he's an attractive guy and that's the proof of it, because a guy who goes out there and fails to be half as attractive as the other guys is just invisible and therefore a loser, a woman who goes out there and gets fucked (I'm not being rude if you could hear my tone I'm just explaining) is losing value and therefore is less attractive (she'd still get fucked but no one's thinking of a ltr with her)...
One last point, all my points are basically the same with a different explanation just to show you how all perspectives mean the same thing, a woman could sleep with any guy she wants she just has to ask, you and I for example could make separate questions where we both ask "wanna have sex with me?", you'll get 160 replies of dudes saying yes I'll get 1 reply from a guy saying yes and another from a woman saying I'm a disgusting troll, and understandably so, women look for quality both in sex and relationships, men look for quantity in sex but for quality in relationships, this can also be explained by how I can impregnate 6000 women meanwhile I don't know the record for a woman getting pregnant is like 15 times or something, that's elite level and it's nowhere close to 6000... so men can go for quantity women can too but definitely shouldn't

I think it's generally because society sees women as the gate keepers of sex. It's so easy for us to get it that we could literally charge money, aka, prostitution. Guys are seen as more valuable and popular if they can get sex from women for free. That doesn't mean that either person who's promiscuous will be good husband or wife material though. Mongamy us a completely different life that requires completely different behaviour.

The people that approve of a man sleeping around casually are mostly women. Many women actually lose interest in a guy if he is inexperienced.
The kinds of men that approve of other men having casual sex also participate in that behavior and that is why they approve of it.
The good men that want an exclusive LTR (and are NOT hypocrites) don't want a woman that has had casual sex, but they also have NOT had casual sex themselves either.
If a person had casual sex, they should not expect to get a partner that has not had casual sex.
If a person has NOT had casual sex, they SHOULD be able to expect to have a partner that also has not had casual sex.
It is a matter of finding a partner with compatible morals. In my opinion, the people seeking a partner for a special emotional bond and wanting to be loved and fall in love are the ones that don't want a partner that has had casual sex because if they have it means it is not special for them and doesn't strengthen the emotional bond in a relationship. That is why people that have casual sex often have difficulty with pair bonding their whole lives. they will usually never feel as special of a connection emotionally as someone would that has not done that.

Perhaps the main reason people use this "keymaster/gatekeeper" analogy is because women are typically the "gatekeepers" of sex and are ultimately the ones who decide whether they want to have it or not. Women generally have a low sex drive compared to men, so for them to give their bodies up so easily could be a red flag.
I'm not entirely sure if it's suggesting that men are valuable for having a high body count. I think it just means that he has value because he CAN attract a lot of women and rouse their sexual drive, but not necessarily engage in sex. I HOPE that's the meaning behind it.
In the end, it doesn't really matter which side is shamed more. You shouldn't aspire to live a promiscuous sex life if you're looking to settle down some day. Because the more you do it, the more numb you become as a person.

Carrie basically got it. For one it is an achievement for another it is indulgement. Societal norms, risks and the simple fact men outnumber women in every country in the world until we're seniors all play part.
Outside of online places like this I have also never really met any guys that have issues with girls being promiscuous. I feel that is largely an issue arising from how many men lack sexual experience and therefore would also like someone at a similar experience level. Which somewhat works well with the general idea before.

Guys compete for a prize, girls pick one up and hand it out. Naturally if everyone in the world has a Nobel prize it starts to mean a little less. Because it's insanely easy for women to get laid, while it's insanely hard to the point it's impressive, for a man to get laid easily. And since a guy builds a life with her, raises kids with her, attaches his assets to her. There is much to risk and lose if he chooses badly. In the US (can't speak for other western countries), the average woman has a higher body count than the average man (about 7 to 6). There's a lot of contributing factors and trends to that statistic, but it's a very recent development.
from a science standpoint and i encourage you to research this for yourself, but women with a high body count or with many sexual partners have a much harder time statistically to pair-bond or to be satisfied sexually in relationships unless the guuy she is currently with is her best sexual experience
